The Tales of series is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and Bandai Namco recently had fans vote on a few categories. They were able to share their most-played titles in the franchise, favorite theme songs, and best battle systems. The results of these rankings were shared during a 25th-anniversary live stream yesterday.

A new system update has just gone live for 3DS. Version 11.14.0-46 is out now for all users. Nintendo says of the latest firmware: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”

This is the first 3DS update in almost a year. In December 2019, Nintendo addressed an issue with StreetPass.

Nintendo announced that it was ending production of the 3DS family of systems this past September. That means today’s update could be one of the last firmware upgrades.

Shakedown: Hawaii - "The Shake-Up Update"

Shakedown: Hawaii has received a major patch. Version 1.0.4, known as “The Shake-Up Update”, is live on Switch and will be out on 3DS soon as well.

The new update includes a new difficulty mode, new types of shakedowns, a quick menu for upgrades, little tweaks and refinements, and more. Additional information from developer Vblank can be found below.

It was about a month ago that Nintendo announced that it’s sunsetting the 3DS. Production has discontinued, meaning no additional units will be shipped to stores. Developers can still technically release new games and the eShop will remain online, but for all intents and purposes, the 3DS’ life cycle is over.

The 3DS originally launched in 2011, so it’s been around for nearly a decade. A massive amount of titles have been released over that span. From Nintendo itself you’ve got games like Super Mario 3D Land, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Fire Emblem Awakening. Third-parties supported the system with Monster Hunter, the Bravely series, and Shin Megami Tensei IV.
