Nintendo’s various shops are undergoing some heavy maintenance in just a few days. This will begin Sunday evening for those of you in North America and in the very early morning on Monday over in Europe. The Wii U and 3DS eShops, Wii Shopping Channel, and DSi Shop will be affected.

The upcoming maintenance is particularly notable due to its length. It seems that the maintenance period will last nearly an entire day.

Here’s the full breakdown of times:

– 7 PM PT (Sunday) – 7 PM PT (Monday)
– 10 PM ET (Sunday) – 10 PM ET (Monday)
– 3 AM in the UK (Monday) – 3 AM in the UK (Tuesday)
– 4 AM in Europe (Monday) – 4 AM in Europe (Tuesday)

As for the reasoning behind the downtime, Nintendo says that it’s planning a large-scale exchange of servers. It’s also possible that the maintenance will end a bit early, though you should definitely expect it to take awhile!

Nintendo has another round of maintenance scheduled for next week. Though if anything ends up like this week, there could be changes to the schedule or cancellations to certain maintenance.

In any case, here’s what’s on top for Monday:

Wii U/3DS – online play, rankings, etc.

– 2 PM PT – 7 PM PT
– 5 PM ET – 10 PM ET
– 10 PM in the UK – 3 AM in the UK (Tuesday)
– 11 PM in Europe – 4 PM in Europe (Tuesday)

Shop maintenance (eShop, DSi Shop, Wii Shopping Channel)

– 1 PM PT – 7 PM PT
– 4 PM ET – 10 PM ET
– 9 PM in the UK – 3 AM in the UK (Tuesday)

Update (10/17): Nintendo’s latest maintenance plans have been changed again. First, there will no longer be shop maintenance. Nintendo Network ID maintenance is still taking place at the times listed originally (see the very bottom of this post). Finally, Wii U and 3DS online features (rankings, etc.) will be down on Monday at the following times:

– 2 PM PT – 7 PM PT
– 5 PM ET – 10 PM ET
– 10 PM in the UK – 3 AM in the UK (Tuesday)
– 11 PM in Europe – 4 AM in Europe (Tuesday)

Update (10/16): Bumped to the top. The “All” maintenance we mentioned previously has now been updated to say “Using Nintendo Network ID”. So in addition to eShop maintenance, Nintendo Network ID will also be affected.

Original (10/14): Nintendo’s various online shops will be undergoing maintenance on Monday. That includes the Wii U and 3DS eShops, Wii Shopping Channel, and DSi Shop.

The maintenance period is planned for the following times:

– 4 PM ET – 8 PM ET

For Wii U and 3DS, in addition to eShop maintenance, Nintendo listed “All”. I’m not quite sure what that means, but perhaps something else will be affected aside from the eShops.

Update: Bumped to the top. The maintenance period has changed, as things have been bumped up two hours earlier. Here are the new times:

– 11 AM PT – 3 PM PT
– 2 PM ET – 6 PM ET
– 7 PM in the UK – 11 PM in the UK
– 8 PM in Europe – 12 AM in Europe

All of Nintendo’s shops will be experiencing online maintenance next week. The Wii U and 3DS eShops, Wii Shopping Channel, and DSi Shop will all be down while this is taking place.

All of Nintendo’s digital store offerings will be down for a few hours of maintenance on Monday. That includes the Wii U and 3DS eShops, Wii Shopping Channel, and DSi Shop. This is taking place between 4 PM ET and 8 PM ET / 1 PM PT and 5 PM PT.

Also, for what it’s worth, various game maintenance will be taking place on Monday as well. Here’s the full information on that:

Nintendo has pulled Brain Age Express: Sudoku from the 3DS eShop and DSi Shop. This applies to North America and Japan, and possibly Europe as well. The reasoning behind Brain Age Express: Sudoku’s removal is currently unknown.
