Pokemon GO

With the huge success of Pokemon GO, Niantic CEO John Hanke appeared at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 today for a panel. The venue was actually upgraded to a bigger hall a few days prior to the event to accommodate demand.

We now have a summary of what Hanke touched on during the panel. To read it in full, head past the break.

One Easter Egg Pokemon GO players have been unsure about is the method of making Eevee evolve through a particular trick. But at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 today, Niantic CEO John Hanke officially confirmed its existence.

If you haven’t heard of the trick previously, it amounts to naming Eevee in a certain way. To have Jolteon, you need to give it the nickname Sparky. Eevee can evolve into Vaporeon by naming it Rainer. Lastly, Flareon requires the name Pyro. Each one is a nod to the original Pokemon anime’s Eevee Brothers Rainer, Pyro, and Sparky.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2016 today, Niantic CEO John Hanke revealed the different Team Leaders for Pokemon GO. They are as follows:

– Team Valor: Candela
– Team Mystic: Blanche
– Team Instinct: Spark

Pokemon GO has been breaking records left and right, but unofficially so. Today, however, Apple has come forward confirming an official milestone for the popular game. Polygon reports that it has more downloads in its first week than any other app in history through iTunes.

It’s not entirely clear how many times Pokemon GO has been downloaded, at least officially. The last number reported from Sensor Tower earlier in the week was 30 million across iOS and Android.
