Square Enix on the long process of re-releasing Romancing SaGa 2, sticking with pixel art, more
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 5 Comments
Last week’s launch of Romancing SaGa 2 on Switch was pretty monumental. It was actually the first time the RPG released outside of Japan on dedicated gaming platforms. It’s mostly the same game as the Super Famicom title, but with a few extras like updated graphics and audio, new character classes, a new dungeon, and New Game+.
Prior to this week’s launch, VG247 caught up with producer Masanori Ichikawa original director Akitoshi Kawazu to talk about Square Enix’s classic. They commented on a variety of topics, including the amount of work involved needed to re-release Romancing SaGa 2, the decision to stick with pixel art as opposed to going the 3D route, and more.
You can read a few excerpts from the interview below. For the full discussion, head on over here.

Heart & Slash adding Endless Dungeon mode on Switch
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 5 Comments
When Heart & Slash was initially funded on Kickstarter, one of the stretch goals was an Endless Dungeon mode. That feature has been added to the Steam version, and BadLand Games has confirmed that it’s coming soon on Switch in a future update.
Endless Dungeon offers endless, randomly generated stages where enemies level up as you progress. You control Slash here. Along the way, enemies will change their weapons and character type while you’ll also encounter new weapons and items to replenish your energy. International combo and score rankings are supported in Endless Dungeon mode.

WorldNeverland: Elnea Kingdom for Switch – site open, a couple of details, first screenshots
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Screenshots, Switch eShop | 1 Comment
Following its announcement in Famitsu this week, the official website for the new Switch version of WorldNeverland: Elnea Kingdom has opened. You can access it here.
WorldNeverland: Elnea Kingdom, a simulation title, was first released for smartphones where it has a user rating of 4.3 out of 5. On Switch, the vertical format will be swapped out for a horizontal interface and will not require an internet connection to play after the initial download. However, the Switch and mobile versions will not be compatible. Pricing is also “not yet fixed.”
WorldNeverland: Elnea Kingdom launches for Switch in Spring 2018 in Japan. It has yet to be announced for the west, but the game’s website shows an “English (US)” language option, though it’s currently disabled. This could be a sign of an overseas release in the future.
