lost ruins review

System: Switch
Release Date: June 6, 2022
Developer: Altari Games
Publisher: Dangen Entertainment

As I navigated the dark, sprawling catacombs and trap-filled dungeons of Lost Ruins, I was always deftly aware of the stakes at play. My protagonist – a plucky, somewhat oblivious schoolgirl who had somehow gotten herself transported to this strange land – was almost always a few missteps away from a grisly demise, be that via a hidden environmental trap or by the claws of a fast-moving zombie-like beast. Inevitably, I would falter and reload at my last checkpoint, often frustrated at myself for getting cornered or something similar – but every time, I was eager to jump back into the challenging world of Lost Ruins to explore more of the map and uncover its many secrets.

Roller Champions release date

Original (6/19): Ubisoft initially rolled out Roller Champions last month, but we’ve been unsure about the release date on Switch. If a new eShop listing is anything to go by, it appears that the title is just a few days away on Nintendo’s console.

Roller Champions is apparently slated for June 21, 2022. There technically hasn’t been an official announcement from Ubisoft, so we’ll let you know if anything changes.

Scrap Riders release date

Original (6/13): Scrap Riders, which was first announced for Switch last year, now has a release date. Publisher Microids and developer Games For Tutti have confirmed that the pixel art adventure game set in a cyberpunk future will be out on September 21, 2022.

Below is a brief overview of the game:

Fall Guys Free for All

A new Free for All gameplay trailer has been posted for Fall Guys. Not only does it promote Season 1, but also serves as a reminder of the imminent Switch release.

Here’s some information about the game:

Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus

Squid Shock Studios has revealed that Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is in the works for Switch.

The hand-drawn Metroidvania game was actually funded through Kickstarter previously where it earned about $175,000. More recently, it’s been in the news after it was recognized that members of AM2R are leading the way on development. AM2R was the Metroid 2 remake created by fans.

Almost My Floor

The point-and-click detective game Almost My Floor is making its way to Switch next month, publisher Sometimes You and developer Potata Company have announced. A release is planned for July 1, 2022.

Here’s an overview of the game with further information:

Hazel Sky release date

A final release date has been announced for Hazel Sky, the upcoming 3D adventure title. Publisher Neon Doctrine and developer Coffee Addict Game Studio have confirmed that the title is slated for July 20, 2022.

Hazel Sky was revealed for Switch back in 2020. It was last targeted for release this month, but ended up slipping to July.

A number of new deals are up and running on the North American Switch eShop. These include the lowest prices yet for the Metro games on Switch, and we’re also seeing discounts for Monster Hunter, Stardew Valley, and more.

Desta: The Memories Between hands on preview

I’ve played games about dodgeball, and I’ve played games set in the subconscious dreams of their protagonists, but I would bet money that Desta: The Memories Between is probably the first game to combine those two concepts. It seems like a strange marriage at first glance, but after sitting down with one of the game’s producers to see the title in action at a Summer Games Fest media event, I’m at the very least intrigued to see how it will all play out.
