Mineko's Night Market review

System: Switch
Release date: September 26, 2023
Developer: Meowza Games
Publisher: Humble Games

Mineko and her father have just moved into a new community. The island town at the base of Mount Fugu used to be full of hustle and bustle, but seems to have fallen from it’s former glory. With the mysterious symbol of worship, the Sun Cat Nikko being sighted, Mineko’s own encounters lead her towards the revival of the town’s iconic Night Market. Gathering items around the island and crafting various things to both sell and fulfill the townsfolks’ various requests is the name of the game with this capitalism simulator – but does Mineko’s Night Market feel like a breakaway from the daily grind, or more like actual work?

The game is quickly approaching on Nintendo’s console, but Warner Bros. didn’t share any assets until now. Some have wondered how something of its scope would translate to the hybrid system.

A significant update for Fae Farm just dropped, with the game moving up to version 1.4.0.

Today’s update includes gameplay adjustments, progression fixes, relationship adjustments and fixes, and more. Much of what here is based on player feedback.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Rolla Koopas

The developers behind Super Mario Bros. Wonder have opened up about the origins of the Rolla Koopas. This comes from Nintendo’s new interview that went out today.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder features a number of new enemies, and Rolla Koopas are a new take on the classic foe. Koichi Hayashida, one of the main game designers, mentioned how during the making of Super Mario World, the developers talked about changing up the look of the Koopa Troopas. That’s something the current Super Mario Bros. Wonder team tried again. Art director Masanobu Sato said “one of the designers came up with the idea of making the Koopa Troopas roll around on roller skates” – and you can check out some concept art above.
