Switch

Suda51 appeared on the latest episode of IGN’s Up At Noon show this past week. At one point, the No More Heroes creator tackled a few questions about Switch.

First, when asked about whether it’s easy developing for the platform and working with Nintendo, he responded by saying that it’s extremely easy. He also feels that the environments are in place to make things easy for developers.

Suda51 then said that he’s hoping to bring back many familiar characters for his new project on Switch – including Travis Touchdown obviously. He’s thinking about how to use the Joy-Con controllers for something like charging Travis’ Beam Katana. On Wii, the No More Heroes games had players recharging the weapon by by shaking the Wii Remote.

Update (2/18): We’ve been seeing some confusion about the release date for this guide, but Piggyback confirms that it’s releasing on March 31. The other two versions are still on for March 3.

Also, Amazon Canada has strangely pulled its listing for whatever reason. When it goes back up, we’ll let you know.

Original (2/17): Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the Zelda: Breath of the Wild Deluxe Edition guide. You can secure a copy here. For those in Canada, head on over here.

The Zelda: Breath of the Wild Deluxe Edition guide features a special format of 11 ” x 15”, premium vintage hardcover, exclusive dedicated 16-page retrospective celebrating thirty years of Zelda games, a 16-page dedicated art section, and two ribbon bookmarks.

Switch has been appearing at numerous conventions and events over the past few weeks, including RTX Sydney. Nintendo has now put together a video showing some of the consumer reactions. View it below.

Earlier today, the Game Creators Conference was held in Japan. At the event, Nintendo’s Masaru Mitsuyoshi held a joint session with Capcom’s Masaru Ijuin about Switch.

One big thing to get out of the way: Switch development kits. These are planned for a cost of roughly 50,000 yen. If you’re doing a direct conversion, that’d be about $450 / $500.

Originally, the Joy-Con controllers were still in the research phase and weren’t included in the explanation document. Ijuin from Capcom said that there was only a touch panel form factor and nothing like the Joy-Con. Because of that, he wasn’t sure in what way the device would be portable. Then after the Joy-Con appeared, he thought “I got it!”.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has appeared in a new Nintendo video to announce a Dutch version of Breath of the Wild. All text will be localized, but the voice acting will remain in English.

This marks the first time ever that a Zelda game has been localized into Dutch. Normally these players only have access to the games in English.

Thanks to DRPS for the tip.

NIS America is preparing a special bonus for Disgaea 5 Complete. If you pick up a physical version of the game, you’ll receive a reversible cover. This will be bundled with all copies of the game at launch.

Disgaea 5 Complete reaches North America on May 23. The European release is set for May 26.

Update: May 23 for North America, just announced at NIS America’s press event.

Disgaea 5 Complete had previously been targeted for Spring 2017 on Switch. Thanks to the latest issue of MCV, we now have a concrete date.

MCV has Disgaea 5 Complete down for May 26. We should point out that this news comes from a UK magazine, but we expect the North American release to be planned for around the same time, if not the same day.

NIS America senior associate producer Alan Costa told MCV:

“Both versions are the same. However, the Switch version features all the DLC from the PS4 version. We will definitely be emphasizing that all DLC can be found on the Switch version as well as highlighting that the game can be played at home or on the go.”

Bonus playable characters and new scenarios encompass the included DLC. The content “adds many more hours of content and strategy to the base game as well as allowing series’ fans to enjoy their favorites from past games.”

The NIS America Press Event live stream is about to begin. We’ll see the start of the show at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET / 3 AM in the UK / 4 AM in Europe. Due to it being on Twitch with autoplay, you can head past the break for the stream.

NIS America has indicated that a new 3DS title will be announced, which we expect is the localization of RPG Maker Fes. Also, we should officially be hearing about Disgaea 5 Complete’s release date.
