No plans for Japanese Hyrule Warriors Wii U bundle at present
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 5 Comments
Tecmo Koei and Nintendo are not currently planning a Wii U bundle for Hyrule Warriors in Japan, according to the game’s official Twitter account.
A bundle was ruled out for the time being when one fan asked about the possibility. Instead, the Twitter account advised fans to pick up an alternative bundle with the high-profile title Mario Kart 8 launching in just a matter of days. “Mario Kart 8 comes out next week, so please know it’s important to purchase a bundle early,” the Twitter account wrote.
Hyrule Warriors hits Japan on August 14.

Nintendo not officially commenting on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U NFC rumor
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 4 Comments
Just a few days ago, rumors circulated of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U incorporating NFC functionality. This was based on a comment made by Nintendo France general director Stephan Bole, who seemed to confirm the news while speaking with French outlet Le Figaro (since removed from the interview by the way).
Unsurprisingly, Nintendo is keeping quiet about the situation. When asked to comment on the rumor, a company spokesperson from the UK told CVG:
“On 8th May 2014, Mr Iwata announced the decision for Nintendo to release character figurines with built-in NFC functionality that are compatible with video games starting from this year-end sales season. There has, however, not been any specific announcements regarding which software titles for Nintendo platforms will use this functionality. We have no other announcements to make at this time.”

Today’s screenshot shares an interesting little tidbit about one of the mainstay Super Smash Bros. assets – the revival platforms. Sakurai explains the upgrade:
Here’s a look at the revival platforms. The color of the bottom mechanism changes from yellow to red to warn you how much time you have left before you drop into the fray.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed producer wanted to include Ristar on the roster

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed finally reached Japan very recently. With the game’s arrival, 4Gamer caught up with a couple of the game’s developers, including executive producer Steve Lycett.
One of Lycett’s more interesting comments came about when 4Gamer mentioned how choosing the characters must have been tough. Lycett said in response:
Selecting the characters really was difficult. Basically, one of the premises we wanted to represent in the game was a correct balance between old and new IPs from SEGA. From such a wide range of material, as well as a balance between male and female, animals, and robots, I chose not to be biased.
Lycett followed up by discussing what the criteria was in selecting characters. While talking about this, he revealed how he originally wanted to include Ristar on the roster, but things sadly didn’t work out.
