Just to be clear, that’s NEXT week’s ‘X-Factor’ on October 17th…
“We know there is a demand out there for a new console format, and this is a new generation of console. Maybe at E3 2011 we didn’t make that clear enough – it really is a new box as well as that innovative controller. It offers many different things. We’re making sure to communicate that angle in the marketing, and the campaign will seem fresh and slightly different. Although there are clear elements that say ‘this is from the people behind Wii’ to maintain some continuity.” – Nintendo UK marketing and PR director Shelly Pearce
Well, looks like we might be stuck watching the X-Factor if we’re looking to get a first glimpse of Wii U’s television advertising campaign! It’s coming a little late in my opinion, but I guess Nintendo figured that people would get annoyed/bored by a flurry of ads if they ran them for more than a month.
Still, was I the only one who really enjoyed seeing those Wii ads when they were around!?
Nintendo opened the official teaser site for New Super Mario Bros. U yesterday. The page contained a tidbit stating that the game would run in 1080p. Unfortunately, it seems as though that may have been a mistake.
The site has since been updated with the following:
“Experience Mario like never before… in high definition, only on the Wii U console!”
If I were a guessing man, I would indeed say that the original message was an error. You’ll be able to see Mario in HD, but probably only in 720p.
Twenty free Mutant Mudds levels will be coming to the 3DS version of the game on October 18 in North America and October 25 in Europe. The content was previously released on PC as the “Grannie” levels.
– Again, 20 new levels
– Levels were made for Grannie’s characters
– Levels feature a retro CGA theme
– Grannie can use all three power-ups simultaneously
– Need to use the power-shot, extended hover, and vertical boost
– Each of the 20 regular levels now have an added CGA-Land door in each
– Need to use at least two power-ups combined to reach these doors
– Once the 20 levels are completed, players will see some sort of “special tiny new smidge” of a bonus
3D screenshots can be viewed on the 3DS through the following QR code:
