Following last month’s announcement of Pokémon Conquest, Nintendo has revealed even more details about the new features available in the game, which launches for the Nintendo DS family of systems on June 18. Players can look forward to exploring the Ransei region and interacting with Pokémon in an entirely new way as they take on the role of a young Warlord who is linked with a Pokémon. Together they must set out to recruit Warrior allies to strengthen their growing kingdom. Developed by TECMO KOEI GAMES Co., Ltd., the game can also be played on the Nintendo 3DS system in 2D mode.

New information includes the following:

So… most of you won’t be able to understand one word in this video, but at least we can check out new footage.

Warren Spector believes that the Epic Mickey team created “the best looking Wii game ever”. He won’t try to push his opinion on anyone – that’s just the way he feels!

“As obnoxious as it sounds, I still think the first Mickey game was the best looking Wii game ever that anyone’s ever made so sue me. I love the way the game looks. I’m not saying anyone else has to agree, it’s just my opinion.”

That’s not all. Spector also thinks Epic Mickey “sounds better than any Wii game ever”. With Epic Mickey 2, Junction Point will be looking to push things even further.

According to Spector:

“I also think it sounds better than any Wii game ever [laughing] but you can always do better. We’re going to. When people see the 2D levels, the 2D side-scrolling levels in the new game I think they’re going to see that the team has taken those to a whole new level.”

Since the basics of Epic Mickey 2 have already been set in stone, his team will not be able to maintain a deeper focus on gameplay:

“We’ve already talked about camera and voice – of course we’re going to do better this time around – we built a studio and team, a world, a code base, a game engine, we established our relationships with everyone at Nintendo and Disney with the first game.

“This time around we know what the world is, we know who the characters are, we know what the gameplay is. What are paint and thinner for? We didn’t even know that when we started the first game. So I would hope that everything will be better this time around.”

Beamdog founder Trent Oster is surprised by the reaction to his comments regarding the company’s experience with Nintendo and the WiiWare service.

Oster noted how his beliefs are apparently widespread across the development community. Additionally, his initial message on Twitter wasn’t in-depth due to the site’s character limit. Even though “feedback has mostly been agreement and support about how Nintendo can improve”, Oster has received some backlash.

“I was surprised by the reaction to my comments. What I stated has been said a great deal within the industry, I guess I didn’t get the memo about not posting it publicly. Given the 140 character limit of Twitter and my cranky 3am mindset, my comment was also a pretty choppy sound bite. The feedback has mostly been agreement and support about how Nintendo can improve. But, I now have a few people who randomly appear on the various social networks and troll me.”

Battleship DS footage

The Battleship games came out in Europe a couple of weeks ago, and will arrive in North America two weeks from today. Activision never shared any in-game footage of Battleship DS, so here’s a video for you!

You can trade in almost any title to GameStop. However, there is a recent exception to this.

GameStop is not accepting any trade-ins for Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir. Of course, this means you can’t purchase a pre-owned copy from the retailer.

GameStop is taking this stance due to their concern over missing pages in the AR book. If any of its contents were to go missing, players would not be able to progress.
