NIS America announced today that they are working together with Nicalis, Inc. to develop an all new action game, Cave Story 3D for the Nintendo 3DS. Cave Story 3D is scheduled to be released this summer in Europe.

I think fans of the original Cave Story will be pleased with this latest incarnation.” said NIS America Producer Jack Niida. “Also through this partnership, we would like to bring new life to the legendary game and make it accessible to a new range of audiences.”

– Over 400 Pokemon in the game
– Some human characters as well
– Type names of Pokemon as you see them in courses
– Boss characters feature more complex inputs
– Goal is to research Pokemon
– Character shouts the name of the Pokemon and throws your “Typing Ball” to gather info as you type the names
– Information is added to a research notebook which you can view later
– Over 60 courses
– Unique gimmicks and Pokemon in each course
– Courses correspond to the keys on a map that’s shaped like a keyboard. You unlock new courses as you clear old ones
– Old and new Pokemon
– Human characters include selectable “Boy” and Girl” main characters
– Support roles: Kii Aoba and Eiji Kiuchi
– Kii is in the Typing Elite Club, gives you advice
– Eiji is an expert on Pokemon and will help you in your research
– “Nintendo Wireless Keyboard” – 264 x 113 x 20mm and weighs 300g
– Keyboard runs for 1,500 hours off two triple A batteries
– Releasing on April 21
– ¥5,800
– Comes with a copy of the game, one keyboard, a “DS Compact Stand”, two triple A batteries, and a reference card which shows romaji conversions
– DS Compact Stand is for propping your DS up while you play
