What exactly makes a “cozy game” these days? In many cases it seems to be a bit of a misnomer: for every one that transports you into a relaxed world with a gameplay loop that you can take at your own pace, you’ll find two more that will thrust you into a hellscape of seasonal crops, timed events, and needy NPCs that all require more time management and organizational skills than your actual life does. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is thankfully not one of these latter titles, but it hasn’t quite escaped unscathed from its time trapped on Apple Arcade, and this holds it back from being the experience that it feels like it should be on Nintendo Switch.

It’s no secret that Nintendo Switch has done incredibly well when it comes to game sales, and it turns out that the console has the most first-party million sellers of any system ever.

Nintendo has published 72 different titles that have reached that mark on its current platform. The next closest is Nintendo DS, which stands at 55. Looking at the competition, the original PlayStation is the closest at 49 titles.

Below is a look at the list of first-party million sellers by gaming platform:

It’s been a couple of years since Rendering Ranger R2 was announced, but Limited Run Games shared an update today with a release date and details about the physical release for Nintendo Switch.

Today, M2 revealed that it’s working on Night Striker Gear for Nintendo Switch. It will be available later in 2025.

Night Striker Gear is a retro 3D shoot ’em up game. It also acts as a follow-up to the Taito-developed Night Striker, which originally debuted in 1989.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past left an indelible memory on former Nintendo designer Takaya Imamura, but perhaps not in the way that he would have wanted.

Imamura was reflecting on his work in the latest issue of EDGE. Halfway through the project, Nintendo called him in to work on the game and make bosses. That wasn’t his only role though as he was extensively involved with the testing phase. This is a bit of a shame as he was hoping to experience the game as a player.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently weighed in on the price of Switch 2 – which as of now has not been announced – as well as the status of Switch 1.

During the Q&A session of the company’s financial results briefing, one investor brought up the current situation with inflation and exchange rates. Furukawa acknowledged that there’s been a big change here since Nintendo Switch 1 arrived in 2017 and noted that the company will “need to consider the affordable prices that customers expect from Nintendo products.”

During Nintendo’s financial results briefing Q&A this week, president Shuntaro Furukawa shared a few words about what to expect in the future with Switch 1 games.

While the company’s new console was announced last month and is coming later in the year, its current system won’t be abandoned immediately. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD launched not too long ago and we know that at least a few other titles are in the works 2025. However, Nintendo Switch 2 will need its own games, which requires development resources.

New data provided by Famitsu gives us a look at Japan’s best-selling games of January 2025.

Although we did see the launch of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, it settles for second place. Super Mario Party Jamboree, which has been dominant since November, continues its run at the top.
