Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield

As the name implies, past Pokemon games included the Exp. Share item so that members in the party not currently used in battle can earn experience. However, in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, Game Freak has done away with it entirely. All party members are now automatically given experience equally. Some fans were surprised by this since there’s no way of turning it off.

In an interview with Dutch site InsideGamer, director Shigeru Ohmori explained the move. He noted that most players had Exp. Share turned on, and those who want to train one Pokemon at a time can remove everyone else from the party.

Following up on today’s new trailer, new information has been shared about some of the new items and features in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Additionally, we have details regarding the first online competition known as Galar Beginnings.

As far as new Pokemon go, pretty much everything has leaked for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. However, information about the games is still emerging. As part of the latest update, we have a look at a few more Gigantamax Pokemon.

Pokemon Sword/Shield

The latest Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield doesn’t concern actual Pokemon, but the Galar region instead. A full look at the in-game map has now been posted online.

This isn’t quite as spoilery as the new Pokemon reveals, but some may want to preserve looking at the map for their own experience. We’ve posted it after the break as a result.

Like past entries, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will each have a few of their own exclusive creatures that can be found in the wild. On top of that though, there’s another aspect to consider: gym leaders. Both versions will also have their own foes to battle.
