Kickstarter went through a bit of a lull in terms of projects including Wii U, but that’s changed over the past couple of weeks. There are now plenty of Nintendo-related indie projects that need your attention.

Here’s a roundup of the latest Kickstarter projects involving Wii U in some form:

Sneaky Ninja – $10,000 for funding, includes Wii U
Spooky Poo’s Happy Hell – $13,666 for funding, Wii U stretch goal at $66,000
Nephil’s Fall – $10,000 for funding, includes Wii U
The Song of Seven : Chapter 1 – $8,000 for funding, includes Wii U
Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove – $400,000 for funding, dev eventually wants it on other platforms
Blue-Collar Astronaut – $15,000 for funding, includes Wii U
Super Cucumber & Down the Drain – $10,000 for funding, includes Wii U
Strength of the Sword Ultimate – already funded at $14,000 and Wii U stretch goal already reached at $40,000

Back in 2013, Monochroma ended up with successful funding thanks to Kickstarter. The game had been planned for several platforms, including Wii U. But a new update from developer Nowhere Studios suggests that Monochroma is no longer coming to Nintendo’s system.

When asked about the Wii U version, Nowhere Studios said:

Sorry about it, we’re currently working on Xbox One version and Wii U is probably canceled. But if things are good on Xbox One we will work on PS4 and Wii U versions as well.

That certainly sounds discouraging. You have to wonder why the team isn’t as interested in working with Wii U at this point.

Thanks to Hola for the tip.

It’s been a few months since we last highlighted a game as part of our “Weekly Screenshot” feature. But there’s long been an indie title on my mind that I thought would be a perfect fit for the idea: Affordable Space Adventures. Now that its development is coming to a close, we’ve teamed up with KnapNok Games to showcase more from Affordable Space Adventures. For the next several weeks, we’ll be sharing exclusive images from the game along with a bit of additional information. If Affordable Space Adventures isn’t already on your radar, hopefully you’ll gain some interest as we introduce new content!

The first photo we’re posting is one of the loading screens that appears between sections in Affordable Space Adventures. It reminds players about the important gameplay mechanic of scanning artifacts to see their range and type of detection before they attempt to attack the spaceship. Loading screens in the game – as well as well as the Wii U digital instructions manual – show a manual written by Uexplore, the company that in the game’s universe offers “Cheap… but functional” spaceships to travel to Spectaculon.

Here’s the official screenshot description from KnapNok:

When exploring around Spectaculon, remember to scan left and right for completely safe alien artifacts. Just don’t disturb them or you’ll be fined. Or shot at.

Another Affordable Space Adventures screenshot will be posted on the site next week!

Pirana King recently revealed a new game known as “LastFight” via a short teaser, which you can watch above. The brawler is based on French comic book Lastman.

Along with the recent announcement, Pirana King said that it plans to bring LastFight to “all major platforms”. The game isn’t confirmed for Nintendo consoles just yet, but things are looking good. Pirana King has already been in touch with Nintendo and there’s definitely a possibility we’ll see LastFight on Wii U and/or 3DS.

Dead Mage is developing “Shadow Blade: Reload” for several platforms, including Wii U. The action-platformer will be released this summer on the eShop.

Originally a mobile game, this new “Reload” version offers new features. The game itself has players taking on the role of Kuro who seeks the teachings of the last remaining ninja master so that he can become the Shadow Blade. Shadow Blade is packed with 60 levels (with “Hardcore” and “Master Class” difficulty modes for each one), a PvP Race mode, and a level editor.

Neon Deity Games’ randomized shoot ’em up Shütshimi is coming to Wii U. Choice Provisions announced that the company will be publishing the title on Nintendo’s console and other platforms.

Read up on a brief overview of Choice Provisions below. You’ll also find an announcement trailer attached.

Shütshimi is a randomized shoot ’em up about a muscle-bound fish with memory problems defending the seven seas.

Armed with your trusty bullet-morphing shotgun, defeat or navigate through waves of enemies and collect powerups as you battle your way through each of the game’s bosses. But there’s a catch (there’s always a catch): you’ve been cursed with an incredibly short attention span. Combat waves and upgrade cycles only last 10 seconds a piece, so you’d better act fast!
