Mighty No. 9’s latest update is in relation to Mighty No. 8’s stage and talks a little bit about the troubles Beck will face traversing through what’s on offer. Comcept also shared several new images from the game. You’ll find all of the new content below.

CRASH THE CAPITOL BUILDING!

This time around we’re showing off the Capitol Building! This stage certainly stands out for its unique ambience compared to the other stages we’ve shown so far. More than a few of you said as much after seeing a snippet of gameplay in Keiji Inafune’s New Year’s message.

This immaculate estate is dotted with luxurious adornments, such as the fountain you see here. Here Beck forgets his grueling battle for a moment and runs through the halls, taking in all the sights. If he’s not careful, security’s gonna tell him off for sure…

Comcept provided a brief look at a new level from Mighty No. 9 today. View it in the video above. You’ll also find a New Year’s greeting from Keiji Inafune!

Mighty No. 9 shouldn’t be in development for too much longer. In a website update, Comcept noted that the game is now in a “pre-final” beta stage.

Comcept still needs to fill certain things in, though the current build features all story stages, Online Race Battles, a Challenge Mode, and more. The main work left to be done is to finish Mighty No. 9’s ending, perform adjustments, debugging, visual tweaks, and other things of that nature.

Beck, the main character of Mighty No. 9, has a slightly updated design. Beck now has more of a white-themed style going on.

Director Koji Imaeda explained the change over on Mighty No. 9’s official website:

From the very beginning we designed Beck to have a neutral, grey base, with the idea of wanting to make something completely new and unique.

But development soldiered on, and as we approached the last leg, we started looking closer at Beck. As a protagonist that could absorb the abilities of his siblings and take on various forms, our image of his appropriate color shifted from “neutrality” to “containing all possibilities”… and since white is a combination of all colors of light, we felt that would actually suit his character better! Hence, we went with the coloring change.

Pure and simple, this Beck is ready to take on all kinds of cool transformations. We hope you like our new-and-improved hero!

So there you have it, Beck’s look has gone from good ol’ gray to a new, noble white!

You can get a look at Beck’s new design in the “boxart” image above.

Comcept is getting involved with crowdfunding once again for Mighty No. 9 – this time for downloadable content. If another $190,000 is raised through slacker backers by the end of 2014, backers will receive a bonus DLC code for an extra level and boss, which will arrive in summer 2015.

Comcept already confirmed that the boss in question is Ray. In Mighty No. 9, Ray acts as a rival to main character Beck.

On its Kickstarter page, Comcept wrote:

First of all, let’s clarify a few things up front, starting with what “potential DLC” means: The “DLC” term is there to make it clear that, no matter what, this content wouldn’t ship at the same time as the game. It would be need to be “DownLoaded,” putting the “DL” in “DLC” 🙂

Otherwise, this content would be “extra bonus content” – working the same way it did with the English voicework – that would be added on top of everything already promised as part of the Kickstarter. That means that, if we get the necessary funding from slacker backers we need to make it possible (more on that later), this would be extra bonus content! (FYI the English voicework will be included with the game at launch, but this DLC would come later.)

Also, we want to stress that none of the developers have or would begin working in earnest on this DLC until their work is done on the Mighty No. 9 retail release. (Which, as some of you might know, is typically several months before any game ships for most disciplines, especially artists and such.) Speaking of schedules, if we reach the necessary funding by the end of this calendar year, we estimate this DLC bonus content would be ready to play in summer 2015.

But wait – we still haven’t explained what the content is! Simply speaking, it would be an entirely new level and boss: Beck’s rival, Ray! (That’s a working name, BTW!)
