Nintendo Switch Sports update 1.1.0

A day one update for Nintendo Switch Sports is now available, which brings the game to version 1.1.0. It’s largely intended to enable online support for the title.

The official patch notes are as follows:

Nintendo Switch Sports pre-order bonus

Nintendo Switch Sports is just under a month away from release, so we’ve started up a pre-order guide for the game and it will be updated with news about bonuses at stores. Right now the title can be reserved at most major retailers.

For those that missed out on the original announcement, Nintendo Switch Sports is looking to capture the magic of the Wii Sports games, though with some changes and updates. Soccer, volleyball, bowling, tennis, badminton, and chambara (swordplay) are all included with golf planned for an update this fall. It’s also possible to face off against others worldwide and attempt to reach the Pro League in every sport. Additionally, players can earn points while going up against others users, which can then be spent on rewards for their avatar.

Nintendo has gone live with a new Switch commercial for Japan highlighting the console’s fitness and sports aspects. Other than a tease with the Ring Con, Nintendo Switch Sports is the main highlight of the advert.

Speaking of Nintendo Switch Sports, here’s some information about the game:

Ahead of its launch next Friday, Nintendo have shared the main theme for Nintendo Switch sports in a new video on Youtube, which shows some screens of the game to accompany the music. Check out an overview of the game and listen to the new trailer below:

Get moving with Soccer, Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton, and Chambara (Swordplay) using Joy-Con controllers! Controls are intuitive, so you can hit the court (or lanes, or field, or arena) and get started. With controlled motions you can curve your bowling ball, add spin to a tennis shot, or even use a Joy-Con with the Leg Strap accessory to kick the ball in a Soccer Shootout. Family and friends can join in on the fun on the same system or online. Plus a seventh sport is planned to be added via a free update this fall; get ready to Golf!

Play online and face opponents near and far to earn in-game rewards or aim for the Pro League

Face off against opponents worldwide and strive to reach the Pro League in every sport. As you play online in random matchmaking, redeem points you earn for in-game rewards like outfits, sports accessories, gear, and much more for your avatar. The selection of items will rotate each week, so check back and see what’s in stock!

Play with friends and family in the same room or across the world

Bowl, spike, and duel with friends in all 6 sports! Pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend for some 1v1, 2v2, or a free-for-all that will get everyone moving. In Bowling, all players can bowl simultaneously—no waiting for your turn. Play each game online, or team up with a friend on the same system to take on opponents near and far in team sports like Volleyball and Tennis.

Nintendo Switch Sports will release on Switch on April 29.

A new Australian Nintendo Switch Sports commercial has been released – this one featuring the Professional Tennis player Lleyton Hewitt. Lleyton and his son Cruz face off in tennis (of course) as well as some bowling.
