Here’s a Podcast – Episode 103!
Posted on 9 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 3 Comments
ON THIS EPISODE: We’re back! For a moment. To signify our triumphant return we bring you one of the funnier episodes we’ve ever had amidst a flurry of game discussion about Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Bayonetta 2, Castlevania, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. It’s a bit tangled and messy, but what are you gonna do? Fire us?
PLUS: A little bit of podcast navel-gazing and story time as we discuss how things went for 102 episodes, our favorite moments, some behind-the-scenes trivia, and the future of the show.
AND: A huge pile of listener mail with lots of kind words about the show, discussion of Zelda, our lesser-known game recommendations, our favorite eShop games, and much more. Will we ever be back? Nobody gets to know that except lord Elrond himself.

Here’s a Podcast – Episode 102! (The Final Episode)
Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 6 Comments
(podcast crew note: Oh, how we wish the news wasn’t true! But it is. Here’s a Podcast has to take its leave from NintendoEverything after 102 wonderful episodes. I know I know, it’s bad etiquette to leave on short notice. But then, we never were much for etiquette! Thank you if you’ve ever listened, and with any luck you’ll hear from us again. Maybe this is the end, but maybe it’s not– only time will tell. If you have questions or concerns, you can reach out to the three of us on Twitter: Jack, Laura, Austin)
ON THIS EPISODE: Bad news is abound, as the cast and crew (which is really just the cast) announce an indefinite hiatus from Here’s a Podcast. Life becomes complicated, and all good things must end! They’re very sorry for the suddenness, and hope that something resembling Here’s a Podcast will return one day.
PLUS: There’s still an episode though, just as you’ve always liked it! Jack is back, and he assists discussions of BIT.TRIP Core and Fallout: New Vegas in the ‘What We Played’ sections. After a lovely break, listener mail makes a return and we answer a variety of questions on “how” we play games, what the music for the Wii U Zelda game will sound like, and more!
AND: The finale of this final episode has us back to discussing A Link to the Past, including some fantastic observations about the temple design, how this game differs from the rest of the series, and much, much more.

Here’s a Podcast – Episode 101! (A Link to the Past)
Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 9 Comments
ON THIS EPISODE: We skipped last week, but maybe we should have skipped this week! A still-sick Austin and a tired Laura scrape together a short show this week where they basically only discussion A Link to the Past for the book club, and then go through some shorter bits of listener mail.
PLUS: Nothing! That’s it. Just book club and listener mail.

Here’s a Podcast – Episode 100!
Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 7 Comments
ON THIS EPISODE: Can you believe we made it 100 episodes? Even though Jack and Aysha aren’t around to celebrate, Laura and Austin manage to pull together another solid episode for everyone.
PLUS: Laura kicks things off with some impressions of some survival horror PC games like Outlast, and then Austin discusses the idea of games letting you face things you simply aren’t prepared to face without telling you through the lens of Fallout: New Vegas. Some brief discussion of BIT.TRIP BEAT and BIT.TRIP CORE round out the segment.
AND: We pick our short book club game, which will be The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past! Listen for more details, or just start playing at your leisure. Listener mail, of course, closes things out.

Here’s a Podcast – Episode 99!
Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 7 Comments
ON THIS EPISODE: Still no Jack and Aysha’s out of town, which means it’s the first even Laura and Austin podcast! What we played? The duo square off about Tomodachi Life getting boring, Shovel Knight being wonderful, and Fallout: New Vegas actually having kind of good storytelling.
PLUS: A new mini-bookclub has been announced. The options? Minish Cap, A Link to the Past, Another World, Stick it to the Man, and Attack of the Friday Monsters! Make your case for which one we should all play and discuss in the comments.
AND: Listener mail about Suda51, “boring” games, and why nobody ever talks about bad game soundtracks in reviews rounds out the end of the show, as usual.

Here’s a Podcast: Episode 98! (Shovel Knight, Tomodachi Life, Mass Effect 3)
Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 5 Comments
NOT ON THIS EPISODE: Jack and Laura! Jack has to take a break from the podcast for several weeks and Laura will likely be intermittent for a few weeks as well. The show… will be different…
ON THIS EPISODE: Special guest Aysha fills in to help save the podcast! Her and Austin talk about the Mass Effect 3‘s lost charm (but it’s still got romance) and Tomodachi Life‘s charm overload, and Austin bring his impressions of upcoming indie game Shovel Knight.
PLUS: Listener mail rounds out the end of the show! We’ve got topics from Nintendo’s E3 performance to whether we think walkthroughs ruin a game experience.

Here’s a Podcast – Episode 97!
Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 7 Comments
ON THIS EPISODE: It’s all E3 all the time, today! As you’d expect, we talk in depth about all of the worthwhile announcements from E3, with highlighted pointed on Splatoon, Zelda Wii U, and the amiibo figurine platform.
PLUS: We somehow managed to talk more about the Tomodachi Life marriage controversy, despite that being more or less “over”.
AND: A tiny shred of listener mail rounds out the week, as usual!

Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 1 Comment
ON THIS EPISODE: A great round of what we played this week! Much more talk about Mario Kart 8 to kick things off, Laura and Austin discuss the strange world of Tomodachi Life, and Jack and Austin praise 1001 Spikes! It’s a good thing.
PLUS: We talk about some brief E3 predictions, and halfway through we decide to start marking down our YES/NO predictions in order to check them next week and see how we did.
AND: Listener mail rounds out the day, as usual. We talk about how to review games (as usual), some E3 stuff, and whether or not you can use your 3DS in a sauna.

Here’s a Podcast – Episode 95!
Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 4 Comments
ON THIS EPISODE: The first half hour of the show is dominated by talk of two masterful games that Jack played: Katamari Damacy and The Last of Us, followed by some talk of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box and Child of Light from Laura.
PLUS: Did you think we’d forget about Mario Kart 8? Heck no! We talk for a solid 45 minutes about the game, so skip to the 48 minute mark if you just can’t wait to hear all about our thoughts on it.
AND: Since what we played took so long (due to the big release!) we don’t talk much about the Gamecube controller port for Wii U, so listener mail on a variety of subjects rounds out the show for a two-hour-long bonanza.

Here’s a Podcast – Episode 94!
Posted on 10 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in Features, Podcast | 16 Comments
ON THIS EPISODE: What we played? Moon Chronicles makes up most of the new games we’ve run through this week, but Squids Odyssey makes a brief appearance as well as some discussion of a book on game criticism by Ian Bogost titled “Unit Operations”. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze makes its return as Austin laments the lack of attention the game gets (given how incredible he says it is), and Super Mario 64 becomes the catalyst for a discussion about when bias becomes too strong to ignore.
PLUS: A mid-segment this week about our memories of the now-dead Nintendo Wifi Connection, plus some short discussion about Hyrule Warriors.
AND: Complaint Corner makes its return because Austin is extremely upset about the way some people analyze or perceive games; he thinks game critics still have a long way to go before coming into their own. Listener mail about a variety of topics rounds out the ending!
