Alolan Exeggutor was added to Pokemon GO in late May, with its event wrapping up by early June. The Pokemon disappeared at the time, but has since returned. Alolan Exeggutor can be found freely roaming in the wild.

Some Pokemon GO players are saying that Alolan forms with regular Kanto pre-evolutions can be seen in the wild, hence this creature’s return. Other Alola variants are hidden inside Pokemon Eggs, but since fully-evolved Pokemon don’t hatch from Eggs, they could be out in the wild instead.

Pokemon GO has added a new Legendary Pokemon. Starting today, Regice can be found in Raid Battles worldwide. The Pokemon will be live until July 19.

Regirock and Registeel are also planned for Pokemon GO. Both should be rolled out in subsequent weeks.

Side note: Solrock and Lunatone have now switched regions to commemorate the Solstice.

The new friends, trading, and gifts features announced for Pokemon GO this week are now live. However, there is a caveat.

In order to add friends, you’ll need to be at level 40. You’ll receive a notice about this if you attempt to use the functionality at a lower level. This is likely to be a temporary restriction, though it’s unclear when Niantic will make it available to a wider array of players.

Niantic has confirmed that Squirtle will be the featured Pokemon for Pokemon GO in July. As usual, the creature will come with an exclusive move. 1/4 Egg hatch distance and 3-hour lures are also planned.

The next Pokemon GO Community Day takes place on July 8. It’ll be your chance to get out and play with others in your local community parks.

As is practically tradition at this point, dataminers have gone to work on Pokemon GO’s latest update. There aren’t any massive findings – especially since new features like trading were just announced yesterday – but there are some interesting tidbits.

Here’s the full rundown:

Niantic has revealed brand new functionality coming to Pokemon GO. New features involving friends, gifting, and trading are all on the way.

Here’s the full rundown from Niantic:

Niantic has outlined some of the upcoming events planned for Pokemon GO.

First up, during the weekends of special live events, the mobile title will be hosting Professor Willow’s Global Challenge. Here players will be tasked with completing Research Tasks, with players given “amazing bonuses” if goals are met.

Pokemon GO is bringing back its Water Festival later today. Starting at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET / 9 PM in the UK / 10 PM in Europe, Water-type Pokemon will appear more frequently. Some Trainers may even encounter a rare Shiny Shellder for the very first time. Field Research tasks highlighting Water-type Pokemon will be live as well.

During the Water Festival, you’ll be able to earn 3x Stardust for catching Water-type Pokemon. 2 km Eggs will hatch Pokemon such as Totodile, Mudkip, and Corphish as well. For each Egg hatched, you can earn Double Candy and Stardust.

Lastly, Raid Battles will feature powerful Water-type Pokemon, including the return of Kyogre. You may encounter its Shiny form if you prevail while battling the Legendary Pokemon.

The inaugural Pokemon GO Fest did not go as planned. Many issues affected the event, leaving attendees unable to participate in activities.

A year later, Niantic will be paying $1,575,000 stemming from a Pokemon GO Fest lawsuit. Attendees can find information about how to receive payment here.

Niantic will be giving Pokemon GO Fest another try when it returns to Chicago next month. The company says it has learned from last year’s mistakes, and will attempt to avoid similar problems this time around.
