Jon Verrall, writer and cinematic designer for Retro Studios, has announced he will be leaving the company. Verrall has worked with the developer for nearly two years, and has presumably been working on Retro Studios’ as of yet unannounced upcoming project. The developer’s most recent game was Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, originally released in 2014.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze’s boxart has a couple of random differences in North America and Europe

The boxart for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is mostly the same in North America and Europe. There are a couple of differences though, and both are pretty random.
The first difference concerns the positioning one Donkey Kong’s foot. Nintendo also went with a slightly different approach to the text pointing out the new Funky Kong mode. We have a look at both boxart versions above.
Fun fact: the foot positioning was actually the same for the original Wii U release. Fans seem to be noticing it more on Switch, however.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze no longer available on the Wii U eShop
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been up on the Wii U eShop since it launched in 2014. However, with the new Switch version just on the horizon, it has now gone missing.
Attempting to search for the game on the Wii U eShop won’t return you with any results for the actual game. Likewise, there isn’t an option for the digital on Nintendo’s own North American website.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Switch apparently has reversible cover art

Nintendo has seemingly included an extra goodie with physical copies of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Copies are starting to circulate, and it appears that a reversible cover is included featuring Funky Kong.
This isn’t the first time Nintendo has offered a reversible cover. Bayonetta 2 received the same treatment earlier in the year.
Thanks to Jake for the tip.
