The latest issue of Famitsu has shared a listing of the top 30 best-selling games in Japan for the month of August 2017. You can check out the full results below.

Pokken Tournament DX sold a little over 50,000 copies in its first week in Japan. It didn’t light the sales charts on fire, but it wasn’t a flop, and it was also one of the best-selling games of the week.

Media Create further adds that Pokken Tournament DX sold through 41.39 percent of its initial shipment, which may seem on the low side. However, the game sold about 75 percent of the Wii U version. For that release, the original Pokken Tournament sold 70,000 copies in its first week with a sell-through rate of 36.65 percent.

Media Create points out that both Pokken Tournament DX and the original title have low sell-through rates in their first week. But since the Wii U version went on to sell 179,000 copies, the sales tracker believes DX could continue to sell over time, especially during the holiday season.

Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver hit the 3DS Virtual Console last week. As was the case in Europe, Nintendo offered boxed versions. Media Create doesn’t have any sales data on this front, but Famitsu has thankfully come through with a bit of data.

Famitsu reports that Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver sold 56,013 units collectively. The site does not include digital sales in that figure, and the split between the two versions is unclear. Gold/Silver are actually at the top of Famitsu’s chart, slightly edging out Pokken Tournament DX. It’s definitely a solid debut.

Nintendo Switch

At this point, we don’t need to go over what a huge success Switch has been. It has blown everyone’s expectations out of the water, including Nintendo’s.

We’ve seen how well Switch can do when enough stock is available, and a new stat from analyst Mat Piscatella from NPD further puts this into perspective. According to Piscatella, physical software sales for the console in the United States “are on pace to be the biggest ever for a Nintendo platform launch year since ’95, by a fairly large margin.”

Worth noting, sales started to be tracked in 1995. So Switch is performing just about as well as Nintendo could have hoped – both with the hardware and physical software sales as well.

Image & Form indicated last week that SteamWorld Dig 2 was off to a fast start on Switch after only having been available for a couple of days. Today, the company shared more on the game’s strong debut.

Image & Form says that SteamWorld Dig 2 is the biggest launch in SteamWorld history. It has sold faster than any other game the team has made previously. Specifically on Switch, SteamWorld Dig 2 is “topping the charts in as good as every country.”

What’s most encouraging of all is that Image & Form has “already earned back most of the game’s total development budget.” That bodes well for the studio going forward.
