Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam is off to a slow start in Japan
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 16 Comments
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam launched in Japan on December 3. During its first few days on the market, the game sold just under 50,000 units (a double pack containing Mario Kart 7 moved another 2,400 copies). Media Create indicates that it sold through just 17.97 percent of its initial shipment.
The sales tracker further points to the game’s slow start by comparing Paper Jam’s debut to two other Mario RPGs on 3DS. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team sold 100,000 copies back in July 2013 with a 25.49 percent sell-through while Paper Mario: Sticker Star launched in December 2012 with initial sales of 129,000 units and a sell through of 33.42 percent.

November 2015 NPD: amiibo surpasses 11 million units sold in the U.S.
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 36 Comments
Update: GamesBeat’s report has been updated. The author made an error, and actually meant amiibo. So to clarify: over 11 million amiibo have been sold in just the United States (not worldwide).
We have an extra piece of information stemming from this month’s NPD report. Nintendo has confirmed that sales of the Wii U have surpassed 11 million units. Now, even though the news comes as part of the November NPD results (which are US-focused), that figure should be worldwide.

SEGA’s full-year profit estimate reduced by 90 per cent
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 39 Comments
SEGA has announced that it’s cutting revenue and profit forecast for the fiscal year ending in March 2016. Revenue forecast has been dropped by ¥65 billion to ¥355 billion, resulting in a 15 percent reduction. Operating income will also be reduced from ¥25 billion to ¥10 billion. Net profit is declining by nearly 90 percent from ¥19 billion to just ¥2 billion.
There are a few reasons behind this. First, SEGA’s pachislot machine sales expectations are down from 265,000 units to 154,000 units and its pachinko machine expectations are down from 220,000 units to 203,000 units. The company is also experiencing “intensifying” competition within the Japanese market when it comes to the Entertainment Contents Business (games) and longer development lead times. That means SEGA doesn’t have a whole lot of titles coming up immediately due to delays.
Monster Hunter X sold through 92% of its initial shipment in Japan
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 1 Comment
Media Create’s latest report had Monster Hunter X at nearly 1.5 million unit sold. As it turns out, the game sold through 91.84 percent of its initial shipment. Media Create also says that pre-orders were at 936,000 copies.
How does Monster Hunter X stack up to the previous game in the series? Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (4G) sold 1,446,289 copies with a sell-through of 85.40 percent. Pre-orders were similar, as that title had 929,000 units reservations.
In terms of hardware, Monster Hunter X helped boost 3DS sales by 362.53 percent. 196,000 systems were sold across all platforms during the week, up 206.19 percent from the previous week.
