Shadowverse: Champions Battle

The card battling RPG Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle has started to make its debut in the west on Switch today. To celebrate, we have a new launch trailer – see it below.

While Shadowverse may not have the same name recognition of other card titles, since its release in 2016 it’s held a strong presence on both PC and mobile with Hearthstone-esque style of gameplay as an array of beautiful cards are pitted against two players on a field representing themed decks. What set the IP apart from other games of this style is its evolution mechanic, which grant bonuses at any time the player feels they want to initiate the function to turn cards into buffed up versions of themselves. In addition to having a story coincide with the cards in a dark fantasy matter, Shadowverse felt whole, engaging, and consistently fresh with its frequent updates that’s kept the game and community alive and well for so long. Since then, the IP has continued to grow and taken a new visual direction with the anime in 2020, and furthermore a year later leading up to today now releasing a brand-new RPG on Switch that uses the art direction, world, and cast of the show to carry the helm of this great new outing. Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle is a brand new adventure that blends fantastically the depth of a RPG with its signature collectible card game gameplay to give what may possibly be the best card-game based game in years.

XSEED Games and Marvelous are now offering a demo for Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle on the Switch eShop. Fans can try out card battles and meet members of the Tensei Academy Shadowverse club. The first chapter of the game is included, serving as an introduction to classmates and the basics of Shadowverse card battles. Progress can be transferred to the full version.

Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle can also be pre-ordered now on the Switch eShop. All versions will come with a special promo code granting two alternate art cards (three cards each), 10 seer’s globes, and cosmetic items redeemable in the mobile or PC version of Shadowverse.

Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle has been out in Japan since November 2020. XSEED and Marvelous previously announced the overseas version for this summer.

Last week, Cygames released the card battling RPG Shadowverse: Champions Battle on Switch in Japan. Get a look at some footage below.

Cygames has announced that their card game Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle is getting more content in the form of a collaboration with the anime Jujutsu Kaisen.

As reported by Gematsu, there will be lots of Jujutsu Kaisen goodies to collect during this event, such as exclusive cards, emblems, titles, and sleeves. These will be unlockable with a code that will be included in an upcoming Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

The Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle X Jujutsu Kaisen event will start on November 5 when the game launches in Japan and last until December 20. A glimpse of the exclusive content is available below.
