Splatoon 2 is hosting its latest Splatfest this weekend, though only in Japan. The comedy theme Boke vs. Tsukkomi is returning from the original Splatoon once again. Nintendo shared some special art to promote the event, which we have above.

As was announced earlier today, a new update has gone live for Splatoon 2. The game is now at version 4.4.0.
Today’s update includes various changes pertaining to Kelp Dome, weapons, and more. We have the full official patch notes below.

Splatoon 2 version 4.4.0 incoming

Nintendo has announced that a new update for Splatoon 2 is on the way. Version 4.4.0 should be live tonight in North America, and tomorrow around the rest of the world.

Splatoon 2 to receive new weapons, demo in the works

At the Splatoon Koshien 2019 tournament earlier today, Nintendo made a couple of new announcements for Splatoon 2.
As it turns out, the game isn’t quite finished adding new content. It’s been announced that more weapons are coming soon, which will be a part of Sheldon’s Picks. You can get a look at them above. Nintendo is also planning another update, but hasn’t elaborated on the details.

Video: Off the Hook’s performance at Game Party Japan 2019

At Game Party Japan 2019 this weekend, Off the Hook from Splatoon 2 will have a dedicated concert. Nintendo is promoting the event with a new video, which we have below.
The Off the Hook concert kicks off on January 26 at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET / 8 AM in the UK 9 / 9 AM in Europe.

Nintendo announces upcoming tournaments for Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 2

Nintendo has announced a pair of new tournaments: the Splatoon 2 North America Inkling Open 2019 and the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate North America Open 2019. Open qualifiers will be held online, leading to a final event at PAX East at the end of March. Nintendo will be live streaming the finals for each online event.

The Splatoon Koshien 2019 Fanbook is due out in Japan on March 4. Aside from including Famitsu reports about the Splatoon Koshien 2019 tournaments, it’ll also have a few extras, including a serial code for exclusive gear.

For the original Splatoon, one of the Splatfests Nintendo ran was Boke vs. Tsukkomi. It was a Japanese-only event featuring the manzai style of comedy – funny man and straight man.
It’s now been revealed that the same Splatfest is returning for Splatoon 2. Nintendo should be making it official soon, but we’re hearing that Boke vs. Tsukkomi will be held during the first weekend of February. Again, it will likely be for Japanese players only.
