Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U may have launched in North America, but director Masahiro Sakurai is still posting screenshots on Miiverse. Today’s update gives us another update on “My Music”. View all of the latest Smash Bros. images below.

The 3DS features functionality that allows users to join online sessions of their friends. By heading to the Friend List, you simply tap “Join Friend’s Game” to connect.

With the release of Super Smash Bros., the Wii U now has similar functionality. You can join a friend’s session by touching the “Available to play!” area of the Friend List. It should come in handy!

Somewhat surprisingly, there’s more than one Rayman trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Along with Rayman himself, you can also nab Barbara and Globox. Quite the representation for Ubisoft there!

Earlier this month, one GameStop location over on the West Coast held a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U preview event. That’s when the story of “Karissa The Destroyer” began. Karissa was thought to have taken down several top Smash Bros. players, but we quickly learned that the entire thing was likely staged.

We now have definitive proof that the event was nothing more than a stunt done by GameStop. I won’t spoil the “secret” of how the store managed to pull it off – just watch the video below!

Some interesting Smash Wii U facts are starting to pop up all over the place and while they’re not all big headliners, some of them are definitely worth sharing! Here’s a round-up of what we’ve found so far (we’ll update the post if any other interesting ones pop up):

  • Japanese New 3DS’s have been confirmed to work on the NA version of Smash Wii U, so we can assume there’s no region locking on 3DS’s as controllers
  • After playing someone online in For Fun / For Glory, you can send them a friend request
  • The random name generator in the game has a few cool entries, “FILS-A-MEK” and “PLAYITLOUD” are entries that may pop up when shuffling for a name

Not huge news by any means, but definitely neat little additions!
