Zelda: Breath of the Wild gets first review in EDGE

Update: Added in details from the review at the bottom of the post. Some of the information is slightly spoilerish, so keep that in mind before you proceed.
Original: This month’s issue of EDGE is in. Only one Nintendo game is reviewed, but it’s a big one – Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The lineup of scores are as follows:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild [10]
Horizon Zero Dawn [9]

Sniper Elite 4 [7]

The Switch and Wii U versions of Zelda were both tested apparently. We’re waiting on the finer details of EDGE’s review, so we’ll let you know when we have some specifics.

A new piece of Zelda: Breath of the Wild concept art has landed on the series’ Facebook page. As pictured above, it’s the same enemy type from The Game Awards 2016 footage. This is just one of many enemies you’ll encounter in the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be played either on a television or on the dedicated Switch screen. However, when using the former option, you may encounter frame rate dips occasionally. In a new GameXplain video posted below, we’re able to see how the two experiences compare.

Nintendo of America teased out a screenshot of Breath of the Wild, showing Link posing in front of a sleeping Blue Hinox. The shot shows several menu options as well, such as Landscape view and an album.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo functionality shown off, other amiibo compatible

Five new amiibo from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launch on March 3. On its Japanese blog, Nintendo finally provided an official look at the functionality.
Here’s the rundown:
– Link (Archer): get items like meat and fish, and also bow and arrows
– Link (Rider): get mushrooms and weapons, horse tools
– Zelda: get plants and shields
– Bokoblin: get meat and weapons
– Guardian: get ancient materials (players must see for themselves what these do in game)
Tapping amiibo from the Smash Bros. line of Zelda amiibo will reward special items from treasure chests. Tapping any other amiibo will result in materials like meat and fruits.
Each amiibo can be scanned once per day. Images of the Zelda: Breath of the Wild unlocks are posted below.
