Nintendo World Championships NES Edition isn’t out just yet, but the game’s developer has already been revealed.
indieszero worked with Nintendo on the project. Given the company’s history, that may not be overly surprising. indieszero previously handled the NES Remix games for Wii U as well as Ultimate NES Remix for 3DS – titles that are in some ways similar to Nintendo World Championships NES Edition.
Bloober Team working on Project M for Nintendo platforms

An interesting project from Bloober Team has come to light tentatively titled Project M. This one looks to be slated for Nintendo platforms.
That news comes from an interview with Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno. Despite having a smaller budget, Project M is an important project for the company. Babieno also mentioned that the title is being made “in cooperation with the world’s best game creators for Nintendo platforms”.

Nintendo posts mysterious teaser for M-rated Emio

Nintendo is teasing something called Emio, and right now fans don’t know what to make of it.
The company’s announcements are generally straightforward and to the point. However, today’s video doesn’t give us much to go off of. This is some sort of new Switch game with a horror feel, and we do know that it’s getting an M rating from the ESRB.

Nintendo Switch Sports just started distribution of its latest update, which is version 1.5.0.
As previously announced, basketball – which was previously featured in Wii Sports Resort – has been added as a new sport. That brings the total number of events up to eight. At launch, players could access tennis, bowling, chambara, soccer, volleyball, and badminton. Golf was added as a post-launch update for free.

Best-selling games in the U.S. for May 2024

Circana has released a listing of the top ten best-selling games in the U.S. for the month of May 2024.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door made its debut and came out swinging. During its first month, the Switch exclusive landed at #2 – and that’s without digital data factored in. We don’t have exact data, but that positioning indicates a strong start.

GBA game Sigma Star Saga making a return

WayForward, the studio behind Shantae, just announced that it’s bringing back the GBA game Sigma Star Saga. It launches in 2025.
Sigma Star Saga is making its return after twenty years. WayForward isn’t confirming Switch support just yet, but given the studio’s output, that’s practically a lock.
Sigma Star Saga is a sci-fi adventure title featuring 2D space shooter and RPG elements. The re-release is being built with Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine.

Okami director says the dev team was “weak”, sales were “huge failure”

In a recent video, Okami director Hideki Kamiya and environment artist Ikumi Nakamura. The two spoke about various topics, including the team behind the game and the initial poor sales.
According to Kamiya, Okami was intended to feature “a dream team” of developers. However, he actually believes that the group was ultimately “weak”, before adding how there “was a very drastic contrast within.”

June 18: Nintendo isn’t finished with Nintendo Switch Sports, and just revealed basketball is coming to the game. It will be available as a free update this summer.
Players can use motion controls to sink as many baskets as they can within the time limit in the solo Three-Point Challenge. Also available, four players can compete locally in Five-Streak Battle or Three-Point Contest, and you can dribble, pass and score in two-on-two matches locally or online.

Fairy Tail 2 announced for Switch

June 18: During today’s Nintendo Direct, Koei Tecmo announced Fairy Tale 2. The game launches on Switch this winter.
