Another N64 classic has just appeared on Nintendo Switch Online with Killer Instinct Gold being made available. Note that you need to be subscribed to the service’s Expansion Pack tier in order to access the game.
Rare originally made Killer Instinct Gold way back in 1996. The fighter is based on the arcade game Killer Instinct 2.

Nintendo on physical games, says they’re “still a key part of our business”

What does the future of physical games look like for Nintendo? At least for the “immediate future”, it’s still important to the company.
Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser recently broached the topic as part of an interview with IGN. In some ways, physical games feel like they’re on their way out. Digital games are only becoming more popular. On top of that, Nintendo is introducing game-key cards with Switch 2. Although consumers do receive a physical cartridge, all of the data needs to be downloaded via the internet before it can function. Nintendo itself is thus far offering full physical games for all of its Switch 2 releases.

April 2: Nintendo Switch Online made a major announcement today with GameCube games now confirmed for the platform. It will be available alongside launch.
This is the first time that Nintendo will be offering these titles as part of its classics service. During the Virtual Console days, support stopped with the N64. GameCube games have only been sold as individual releases, sometimes as updated remasters.

April 2: Support for third-party Nintendo Switch 2 announcements continue, and we now know that Borderlands 4 is on the way. The game will be available later in 2025.
Borderlands 4 is a looter shooter in which players can take on outrageous enemies and acquire killer loot on the dangerous new planet of Kairos. The game features an arsenal of weaponry, the ability to glide, dodge, fixed-point grapple, and more.

Fast Fusion could get post-launch update with 120 FPS mode

Fast Fusion may receive a 120 FPS performance mode after launch. That’s according to Manfred Linzner, who shared the news in an interview with Nintendo Everything.
Fast Fusion will run at 60 frames per second with a 4K resolution at launch. That alone is very much impressive. However, we could see an even higher level of performance in the future.

What we could see out of a Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Definitive Edition

You might be wondering: isn’t it too early to be thinking about a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 remaster? The answer might surprise you: not really! The original Xenoblade Chronicles released in Japan in 2010, and in America in 2012. It then received a Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch in 2020. If Xenoblade Chronicles 2 were going to receive a remaster on the same timetable, getting it this year wouldn’t be out of the question. That said, given how Monolith Soft released Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition in March, that clearly isn’t happening. In fact, we think we’ll probably see a Xenoblade Chronicles 4 before a potential Xenoblade Chronicles 2 remaster, but after that, we think it’s possible that the studio will eventually revisit the game. So today, we’re going through a full list of changes we would want to see in a hypothetical Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch 2. There are spoilers ahead, so be warned if you’re still trying to avoid them all these years later.
