The LEGO video games have always been relatively simple yet fun romps through iconic universes like Batman, Harry Potter, and pretty much everything in between. Yet, while LEGO Marvel Avengers captures that same LEGO charm that the series is known for, it suffers from a number of bumps and hiccups that manage to hold it a little further back from its older siblings.

Game Informer is continuing its coverage of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens today. In the video below, you can listen to TT Fusion’s head of animation Matt Palmer talking about the process of adapting the movie’s characters into the new game.

Game Informer has several weeks of coverage planned for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In the video below, lead story designer Graham Goring and cut-scene director Phil Gray discuss the process of adapting the movie and which scenes were the toughest to convert. Beware of spoilers!

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will retell the story of the film. However, Warner Bros. and TT Games are also adding in more levels set before the movie, according to developer Mike Taylor. This will allow the team “to explore some of the backstory of the characters” with “lots of exclusive stuff” that uses “content in some of the other additional materials that Lucasfilm have been involved in.”

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have six missions that will are being incorporated as bridge content. Players can access them after finishing a story mission based on the film, after every hour or two. They’re also all options and won’t be unlocked until a certain amount of gold bricks are found.

Game Informer outlines some of what we can look forward to from the exclusive missions:

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been officially announced following a number of leaks over the past few hours. The game will drop on June 28.

Below is a recap of information:

“LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes players deeper into the new film than any other game with all of the heroic characters from the movie, including Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and BB-8, as well as Kylo Ren, General Hux and Captain Phasma, while also exploring iconic Star Wars locales, such as Jakku and Starkiller Base.

This action-packed adventure introduces new gameplay features, including the enhanced “Multi-Builds” system, where players can choose from multiple building options to advance the game. Gamers will be able to engage in intense new Blaster Battles for the first time, utilizing surrounding environments to drive back the First Order. Fans can also experience the thrill of high-speed flight gameplay through arena-based battles and dogfights in space, while utilizing a multitude of vehicles along the way, including the legendary Millennium Falcon.”

And here’s the complete announcement trailer (about twice as long as the teaser we posted a few hours ago):

Amazon is already taking pre-orders as we speak. If you’re a LEGO fan and have Amazon Prime, you may want to jump on a pricing error fast. All versions of the game, including Wii U and 3DS, are currently 40 percent off for such members (update: now dead).

The leaks for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens continue to roll on in. Warner Bros. was officially set to announce the game with a teaser later today, but the video has arrived earlier than expected. You can view it below.

Following the leak spotted on Amazon Italy a few hours ago, we now have the first images from LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Find them in the gallery below.

These shots may come from a trailer that we’ll probably be getting in a few hours. When we come across the video, we’ll post it on the site immediately.

And here’s the game overview, now in proper English:

LEGO Star Wars: Episode 7 is in development, a leak from Amazon Italy reveals. The game is listed for several platforms – including Wii U and 3DS – with a tentative May 31 release date. It may feature the final title something along the lines of “LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

Amazon’s listing indicates that the game will take players through the story of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with LEGO’s signature humor. New content bridging the gap between Episode VI Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens will also be included. A (very) rough translation mentions something about multi-buildings/construction and battles with the blaster.

“The best-selling LEGO video game franchise makes its triumphant return with an action-packed and humor journey based on the blockbuster movie. The game will also feature exclusive playable content that bridge the gap between the story of Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Play as Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Han Solo and many others in LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens! LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens introduces Multi-constructions and battles with Blaster universe of LEGO videogames. With Multi-buildings, use LEGO bricks available to open new paths, and then break them ricostruiscili to open others! During the battles with Blaster, use the environment as protection to address the First Order.”

It’s likely that we’ll be officially hearing about LEGO Star Wars: Episode 7 as early as tomorrow. Warner Bros. has been sending out emails to members of the media teasing “a massive announcement” regarding “two of the world’s most popular entertainment brands.”
