Aonuma on why Zelda: Link’s Awakening doesn’t have new dungeons on Switch, not ruling out Zelda Maker

When Nintendo announced the Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake for Switch earlier this year, some fans were hoping that a new dungeon or two would be included. Ultimately, that didn’t happen.
Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma spoke to Kotaku about the decision, explaining:

Astral Chain has two-player support when you detach the Joy-Con

What we’ve mostly seen of Astral Chain has been advertised as a single-player experience. However, there is actually a two-player mode of sorts included.
If you detach the Joy-Con, one controller will have the controls for the cop and the second will be for the Legion – which is connected by a chain. This is the only way in which two people can play together during the dual combat sequences.

SEGA hosting Sonic Anniversary Sale across the Switch, 3DS, and Wii U eShops

CD Projekt Red says The Witcher 3 “looks amazing” on Switch, not cutting content

One of the announcements made during last week’s Nintendo Direct was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Switch. The acclaimed game will reach the system later this year.
After the reveal was made, VGC spoke with UI coordinator Alvin Liu about the port. While there are “hardware trade-offs” involving draw distance and less foliage, CD Projekt Red believes the game “looks amazing” on Switch.

Dragon Quest Switch slime controller pre-orders open

Original (6/13): Play-Asia has opened pre-orders for the recently-revealed Dragon Quest Switch slime controller. If you’re interested in putting down a reservation, you can do so here.
The Nintendo-licensed wireless controller has a built-in rechargeable battery with “slime controller stands”, “treasure box stands”, and “circlet” for decoration. There’s also a continuous fire function and apparent support for the gyro sensor, according to Play-Asia’s listing.
The controller is due out in Japan on September 27. At this time, there are no plans for a western release.

Twitter shares E3 2019 data: Nintendo Direct the biggest moment, Nintendo has most tweets of any publisher

Twitter has provided information about the games, companies and moments that drove the conversation of E3 2019. Nintendo did quite well, with the social media platform stating that the company’s Direct was the biggest moment of the show. Nintendo also took home the most tweets while Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sequel and Animal Crossing: New Horizons were among the biggest games.

Metroid Prime lead technical engineer Andy O’Neil passes away

Game developer Andy O’Neil has passed away at the age of 47.
O’Neil was a notable contributor to the Metroid Prime games having served as a lead technical engineer on the first two entries in the series. He also helped out in the creation of the Wii’s tech demo of Echoes that was shown at the Tokyo Game Show in 2005.
