The video game industry tends to have a few big events every year. You’ve got the major expos like E3 and Gamescom, but GDC is another important staple. It’s a chance for developers to connect, show off their games, and share the latest news.

Unfortunately, GDC 2020 won’t be taking place as originally scheduled. Organizers for the event have announced that it has been postponed to this summer. Many attendees started to pull out over the past couple of weeks amid concerns from the coronavirus, so it makes sense to hold off for the time being.

A message on the GDC website states:

With what we’ve seen and heard about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time over the many years since its release, it’s clear that the game went through significant changes. The graphics, gameplay, and more went through revisions throughout the course of development.

A few days ago, YouTuber Hard4Games showed off some beta footage from a promotional VHS tape. It was originally given out through a Blockbuster giveaway in Brazil for pre-ordering. We’re able to see an early character model for Zelda, Link swinging his sword while running, calling Epona with a reed, and more.

Here’s the full video from Hard4Games:

Back in October 2017, it was announced that Dark Horse had teamed up with Nintendo to produce new graphic novels based on the Switch game ARMS. The only update we’ve had since then was in May 2018 when it was stated that the first release was pushed back to January 2019. It’s been radio silence since then. Because of that, many feared that the project was cancelled entirely.

Despite the lack of news, Dark Horse says that the ARMS graphic novels are still planned. The company just shared that little tidbit at Toy Fair 2020. Beyond that though, there’s no word on when we’ll finally see the first comic.

It took a number of years, but Shovel Knight’s lengthy journey ended as 2019 came to a close with King of Cards and Showdown. There’s still plenty going on with the franchise though between 2021’s Shovel Knight Dig and the recently-announced Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon. But what about the next core entry in the series?

Fans will be happy to hear that developer Yacht Club Games is thinking about the future. Speaking with DualShockers, artist Sandy Gordon said “this is definitely not the end of Shovel Knight” and that the team has “hope for a lot more Shovel Knight down the road.”

As for Shovel Knight 2 specifically, Gordon noted that Yacht Club is “absolutely” considering a sequel”. He’s also “sure that’ll happen at some point: it’s something we talk about a lot.”
