Three years ago today, Satoru Iwata, beloved President of Nintendo and executive director of countless classics from Earthbound to Luigi’s Mansion to Pikmin 3, passed. His career was so expansive that it would take far too long to list all of the best sellers and gems he lent his hand to. For many years, he was Nintendo’s backbone, delivering Nintendo Directs with pride.

The day he died, I was staying at Yale over the summer. My roommate and I both cried as strangers walked around our dorm, knocking on doors, informing the college of his passing. Even non-gamers felt a sense of loss– Mr. Iwata influenced people like that.

Taken far too soon by complications in a tumor caused by bile duct cancer at the age of 55, he accomplished much during his time. The way Iwata was, however, he would want us to celebrate accomplishments rather than mourn.

So today, please celebrate Iwata’s accomplishments in your own way. Maybe crack open an old favorite, or just hold your head a little higher.

“We do not run from risk. We run to it.” – Mr. Satoru Iwata, 1959-2015

Universal CityWalk Hollywood is of course located in California by Universal Parks & Resorts. The first thought that may come to mind is something related to Super Nintendo World, but even so, the filming taking place still raises questions.

On Friday, the brand new Pearl and Marina amiibo for Splatoon 2 will be launching. View an unboxing video below that also has a closer look at the two figures.

The schedule for San Diego Comic-Con 2018 reveals that Mega Man: Fully Charged will have its own panel. Capcom’s Kazuhiro Tsuchiya and others “will discuss the background and creative evolution of the new series, followed by screening of never-before-seen footage from the show”.

During Nintendo’s 78th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, one investor asked about the release of official soundtracks and making use of the company’s IPs. Director / managing officer Shinya Takahashi and Shigeru Miyamoto both weighed in on this front.

The two stated:

We don’t typically cover Nintendo’s share price here and the situation with the stock market for one reason. It can be fickle, and often predictable. When there’s good news, chances are that the price will rise. The same also goes in the opposite direction with bad news.

Coming out of E3, much has been made that Nintendo’s share price took a notable hit. The company was asked about this during the 78th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. Now former president Tatsumi Kimishima as well as director / managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi weighed in on the situation, stating:
