The hidden 2-player games of the SNES Classic
Posted on 7 years ago by Tyler(@tylerlelliott) in General Nintendo, News, Videos | 0 comments
It seems the SNES Classic has a couple more secrets to unveil. GameXplain has uploaded a video showing off multiplayer features of a couple of games that aren’t as well-known or easily accessed. As the video demonstrates, the SNES Classic’s main menu explicitly indicates which games are 2-player compatible and can even be grouped together as such.
However, through inputting a cheat code, players can unlock a 2-player mode in Yoshi’s Island. EarthBound also has a secret 2-player mode that can be unlocked simply by connecting a second controller.
While not as fully-fleshed out as a standard multiplayer game, these are still fun features to include. Watch gameplay of these two modes below:

Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 14 Comments
Much like Switch, the Super NES Classic Edition is a hot item this year. Many stores are already sold out despite only having launched on Friday.
At least in GameStop’s case, the retailer is promising more stock “very soon.” This applies to GameStop’s own stores and ThinkGeek outlets.
A look into the tech and emulation of the Super NES Classic Edition
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 10 Comments
Digital Foundry has taken an extensive look at the Super NES Classic Edition. The site’s report is based on the European version, but all units are essentially the same – just with slightly different designs.
First, similar to the NES Mini, the SNES Classic Edition only outputs at 720p. That makes sense though based on the way games used to run.

Nintendo on Mario World / Yoshi’s Island – Yoshi’s creation and having him in a starring role, visual style, more
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 3 Comments
Nintendo has translated the full Super Mario World / Yoshi’s Island interview we saw snippets of in Japanese earlier this week. Out of all of Nintendo’s interviews for the SNES Classic Edition thus far, this one might be the most interesting.
Takashi Tezuka, Shigefumi Hino, and Hisashi Nogami were all present to talk about the SNES games. They chatted about how Yoshi came to be, how he ended up getting a starring role in his own title, the visual style for Yoshi’s Island, and a bunch more. We also have the official translation about the original plan to have Mario hitting Yoshi when his tongue sticks out.
Continue on below for the full interview with Tezuka, Hino, and Nogami.

Retailers don’t know when, but say SNES Classic Edition will return throughout the holidays
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 4 Comments
Early reports from consumers indicate that Nintendo has done a much better job with Super NES Classic Edition shipments compared to last year’s NES Classic Edition. Still, if you’ve lucked out on finding a unit, don’t turn to the likes of eBay just yet.
Polygon heard from Target, GameStop, and Toys “R” Us that more SNES Classic Edition consoles will be available throughout the holiday season. The only slight unknown is Best Buy. The retailer did not respond to Polygon’s inquiry, but it’s very unlikely they’ll be left out of future shipments.
As for Target, GameStop, and Toys “R” Us, they say the restocks will take place sporadically during the holiday season. They’re just not offering any specific dates in terms of additional shipments. Customers will be provided with updates when shipments are expected.
