Heads up for Hogwarts Legacy players on Nintendo Switch 1 – there’s currently an upgrade available for the Switch 2 version.

Technically this is not the traditional “Upgrade Pack” that the upcoming console will be receiving for multiple games. However, the Nintendo Switch 2 version just received a listing on the Nintendo eShop today which appears to have set things in motion. It seems that if you’ve bought the game, you can pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 version for $10. Right now Hogwarts Legacy for Switch 1 is on sale for $17.99 on the Nintendo eShop.

At PAX East 2025, Limited Run Games commented on the ongoing discussion surrounding physical cartridges for Switch 2. The company, known for bringing both retro and modern digital titles to physical media, confirmed that its own releases should include the full game on the cartridge. The only exception applies to partnership titles that aren’t part of its numbered lineup, where the decision will be left to the game’s developer or publisher.

Since the discovery of game key cards, the issue has sparked concern and some dissatisfaction among fans due to the growing trend of physical releases requiring downloads or shipping incomplete versions. This is especially true with the continued rise in game file sizes, as seen with Limited Run Games’ own announcement that the Raidou Remastered collector’s edition would include a game card. However, that was apparently SEGA’s decision and was not a part of Limited Run’s numbered lineup.

Switch 2 battery prevention feature

As we continue to find out about all of the various tidbits surrounding Switch 2, Nintendo has now revealed that the system will include a battery deterioration prevention feature.

That news was shared via the Nintendo Today app. In one of the postings, Nintendo shows off the setting that can be found in the “System” tab.

All Nintendo Switch 2 game key card games

As we get closer to the launch of Nintendo Switch 2, we’re putting together a complete list of Nintendo Switch 2 games with a game-key card release.

This is a new approach to physical media, which has seen a mixed reaction. In a way, it’s a hybrid between a true physical release and a download code. Each box comes with a cartridge, but there’s nothing really included. Rather than coming with all content, you’ll need to download the game first. After that you don’t need to connect online, but you need to insert the card each time you play.
