Rumor: The Wall Street Journal also says NX will use cartridges
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 27 Comments
Quite a few NX rumors have emerged over the past few weeks. When Eurogamer published its report, one of the more prominent things we heard is that the system will make use of cartridges. The Wall Street Journal is now making similar claims.
The publication, having spoken with “people familiar with the matter”, says that NX will indeed feature cartridges. Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot else there that’s new or interesting. This does back up at least one (still unconfirmed) rumor.
Rumor: NX development kit dimensions and mockup, is region-free

Let’s Play Video Games has followed up with a third report about the NX within the past week.
Based on what the site has heard from one of its sources (“working on an NX title set to launch Holiday 2017, corroborated and lined up with information from sources we have worked with during the past week”), it claims to have information about the layout of the current development kit. A mockup image can be seen above.
As we’ve previously heard, the NX is supposedly a hybrid console with detachable controllers. The split d-pad, A, B, X, Y, and a camera / share button are all there. As for the size, the source writes the following:

Rumor: NX has a split d-pad, share button

A few days ago, Let’s Play Video Games put up a report claiming that NX will make use of advanced vibration technology and motion sensing in new controllers intended to replace the Wii Remote. The site has now followed with additional unconfirmed information regarding the current version of development hardware.
Let’s Play Video Games writes that developers have access to a split d-pad as well as some sort of share button, similar to that of the PlayStation 4. The button features a small icon of a camera and will let users upload still images and video on Miiverse, Twitter, Facebook or YouTube. Images or video can also be saved to external memory devices, which then can be ultimately moved to PC.
Let’s Play Video Games offers up the following mockup:
Just like last week’s report, these latest rumors are unconfirmed. It’ll stay that way until Nintendo has something official to say about its new system.

Rumor: NX’s detachable controllers have motion control and force feedback
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 183 Comments
If a new report from LetsPlayVideoGames is to be believed, the NX will indeed feature detachable controllers as Eurogamer previously mentioned along with basic motion control similar to that of the Wii Remote Plus and a form of “advanced vibration force feedback”.
The site says that the controllers are intended to eventually phase out the Wii Remote. Although you’ll be able to use Wii Remotes with some multiplayer titles, not all will be supported.

Corpse Party 3DS may slip into the fall
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 2 Comments
XSEED confirmed the localization of Corpse Party on 3DS back in April. As part of the initial announcement, the publisher said the game would be ready to hit store shelves this summer. Those plans may have since changed.
For one thing, time is running out on summer. We still don’t have a concrete date, and we’re a month away from the start of fall. Retailers also started to update their Corpse Party listings this past week. While many had the game pinned down for a tentative August 30 launch, the likes of Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and GameFly now indicate that it’ll be available on October 4.
In any case, this is all partially speculation on my part. There are still a few weeks left in the summer, so maybe XSEED is simply gearing up for a (very) late fall release. Hopefully we’ll find out what’s happening soon.

Axiom Verge might be launching for Wii U on September 1
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
Axiom Verge might be making its way to Wii U early next month. On the eShop, a date of September 1 appeared, though only briefly. It also showed for a short time as an upcoming title, but has since been removed from the section. Visiting Axiom Verge’s eShop page now simply shows a date of “TBD”.
There are one of two possibilities here. Either Nintendo didn’t want folks knowing about Axiom Verge’s release date yet, or a mistake was made. We do know that September 1 is a Thursday – when most digital games are out. September 1 would also still fit in with the planned summer launch.
In any case, we should be hearing about when Axiom Verge is coming in the very near future. We’ve included an overview and some screenshots from the eShop listing below.

Rumor: The Wall Street Journal backs up NX hybrid report, “compatible” with Nintendo mobile games
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 142 Comments
Yesterday, Eurogamer put up a report about NX with many unconfirmed details. The big thing we heard about is that, assuming the site’s story is accurate, Nintendo will bring out a portable console with detachable controllers. Players could then use a base/dock station to connect NX to a television.
The Wall Street Journal now appears to be backing up Eurogamer’s report about NX being a hybrid. The outlet wrote today, “A person familiar with the matter said NX would be a handheld-console hybrid that would be compatible with its own smartphone games.”
It goes without saying that we’re still very far away from any of the rumored details being proven true, so take everything you hear with a grain of salt. We’ll see if any of this pans out in the end!

Update: Here’s Eurogamer’s mockup of the NX (not official or final in any way):
The site also has a follow-up on specs here.
Eurogamer has a new report on NX – the first concrete rumors about the system since its announcement last year.
The site claims that “NX will be a portable, handheld console with detachable controllers”. That information comes from “a number of sources” speaking with the site.

Rumor: Nintendo issuing DMCA takedown notices for pornographic fan art
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 28 Comments
Update: Gaming Reinvented posted an article last month about how someone without the proper authority (outside of Nintendo) has been issuing takedown notices. We can’t say that this situation was a fake claim as only the company was included in the email, and not a specific name. It’s enough to cast some doubt on this though, and should be taken with a grain of salt unless more information is provided.
If it is a fake claim, then that’s a pretty big issue. Tumblr in that case would be removing content without verifying the DMCA sender.
Tumblr users are starting to receive notices regarding the removal of fan art from blogs following takedown requests from Nintendo. The company is taking issue with art that is pornographic in nature.
Details about the situation beyond this are unclear. However, there’s some speculation that art related to Princess Peach are being claimed.
If you’re interested in seeing the removal email, head past the break.
