Update: Pre-orders are now up on GameStop here!

Fire Emblem Fates was another title highlighted during Nintendo’s North American press event today. Two big news updates were shared about the anticipated game.

First, map DLC is planned for Fates starting at launch. New content will be released weekly beginning on February 19.

Also revealed is a special Fire Emblem Fates New 3DS XL, shown above. Note that the game is not included. Pricing will be set at $199.99.

Update 3 (1/18): Bumped to the top yet again. Finally available for in-store pickup!

Update 2 (1/15): Bumped to the top. This is now officially live on Best Buy for shipping. Still no in-store pickup.

Update: Best Buy’s page may not have fully updated yet. It’s currently in-store pickup only, and users are unable to select a local Best Buy. Post will be updated again when it’s up properly.

Yesterday, GameStop started taking pre-orders for the New 3DS Pokemon 20th Anniversary Edition. Reservations are now up on Best Buy as well. To pre-order a system, head on over here.

You can still pre-order on GameStop by the way! It sold out for a few hours last night, but has since returned (now with a “limited quantities” label).

Earlier this week, Nintendo of Europe announced the latest two cover plates for the New 3DS. The first is based on Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon while the other features art of classic Pokemon.

Pre-orders for the pair of cover plates are now live on Amazon Germany. Reserve #30 here and #31 here. Both should ship to other territories, including the United States.

It doesn’t look like North America will be receiving the special 2DS bundles featuring Pokemon, but a New 3DS package is planned instead. Red and Blue will be pre-installed, and two cover plates plus a download code for a home menu theme will be included.

Thanks to Famitsu, we now have information about overall sales in Japan for 2015. This accounts for data collected between December 29, 2014 and December 27, 2015.

First, here’s a look at the numbers per platform:

3DS – 2,189,900 (3,153,045 last year) (20,036,956 lifetime)
PS4 – 1,205,163 (925,570 last year) (2,130,733 lifetime)
PS Vita – 959,342 (1,147,936 last year) (4,382,417 lifetime)
Wii U – 820,304 (604,856 last year) (2,943,587 lifetime)
