Sonic Frontier hands on impressions preview

Sonic Frontiers is ambitious – that much has always been clear. The game’s initial gameplay reveal may not have painted the fruits of that ambition in the most polished light – technically, it was all a bit rough around the edges – but even still, I’ve been excited and curious about the potential this new concept has to redefine what a modern, 3D Sonic game could look like. I was very fortunate to have an opportunity to go hands-on with the game recently at a Summer Game Fest press event, and after spending almost an hour with it, I feel like I have a much more complete picture as to the potential this title has. Sonic Frontiers plays much, much better than it looks at the moment, and I fully expect that players will have a lot of fun exploring its intricately designed world once the full game is released.

Onsen Master

Publisher Whitethorn Games and developer Waking Oni Games today announced that Onsen Master, a hot spring customer management game, will be released on Switch. It’s due out later this summer.

Onsen Master takes inspiration from the Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away which has the protagonist working with spirits at a bathhouse. That led to the title’s hot spring customer management gameplay as well as the Japanese setting and aesthetic. Onsen Master has seen five years of development, a successful Kickstarter campaign and beta period, and a partnership with Whitethorn Games.

Developer Merlino Games and publisher Digerati have announced that UNDETECTED will be launching on Switch via the eShop in Q4 of this year. The game places a heavy emphasis on stealthy gameplay with non-lethal melee attacks and weapons, rather than deadly force, and offers various difficulty options to the player.

Here’s an overview of the game and a trailer, courtesy of Digerati:

Last week Capcom shared gameplay footage of their RnD team taking on newly revealed monster Lunagaron in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, with the promise of additional gameplay footage of Seregios to come. That promise has now been fulfilled, as a new video has been uploaded via Twitter, which shows off the returning monster as well as the Gunlance and Great Sword weapons.
