The Spectrum Retreat

The Spectrum Retreat is making its way to Switch in just over a week. It’ll be out via the eShop on September 13, Ripstone announced today.

The Spectrum Retreat is a sci-fi puzzler from Dan Smith, who won the BAFTA Young Game Designers Award in 2016 for his first-person puzzler prototype when he was only 18 years old. Ripstone has since partnered with Smith to evolve the prototype “into a trippy, art deco-inspired sci-fi adventure.”

Pre-orders can be placed here. In doing so you can receive either a Boo lamp or Luigi’s cap that are pictured above.

For the past few years, fans have come to expect a new Nintendo Direct in September. Last year’s presentation during the month was noteworthy, as we received lengthy looks at previously-announced titles as well as some brand new games.

Speculation is now circulating that a Nintendo Direct will be airing very soon – in fact, possibly tomorrow. The presentation is rumored for 4 PM PT (September 6) / 7 PM ET (September 6) / 12 AM in the UK (September 7) / 1 AM in Europe (September 7).

Information about the Nintendo Direct appears to come from indie sources, indicating that we’d probably see an indie game or two during the broadcast. The rumor also stems from sources who accurately helped to predict Nintendo of Europe’s Indie Highlights video a few hours before it went live last month. Stay tuned.

Peculiarly, Target’s website lists the release date of the Switch version of Diablo III as November 2, leading to a lot of speculation. Every other retailer has a placeholder date of December 21, the last day of Fall 2018. Adding to the intrigue, November 2 is the first day of BlizzCon. Releasing a Diablo game on a handheld for the first time could be a very exciting way for Blizzard to kick off its annual event.
