Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed producer wanted to include Ristar on the roster

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed finally reached Japan very recently. With the game’s arrival, 4Gamer caught up with a couple of the game’s developers, including executive producer Steve Lycett.
One of Lycett’s more interesting comments came about when 4Gamer mentioned how choosing the characters must have been tough. Lycett said in response:
Selecting the characters really was difficult. Basically, one of the premises we wanted to represent in the game was a correct balance between old and new IPs from SEGA. From such a wide range of material, as well as a balance between male and female, animals, and robots, I chose not to be biased.
Lycett followed up by discussing what the criteria was in selecting characters. While talking about this, he revealed how he originally wanted to include Ristar on the roster, but things sadly didn’t work out.

Today we’ll be continuing our look at the Nintendo Wi-Fi lineage with a focus on Wii titles. The Wii’s online infrastructure surprised us time and time again with what it could (and couldn’t) do, with experiences ranging from the cohesive and fleshed out Mario Kart online to a slideshow crawl through Super Smash Bros. Brawl matches. With the rise of homebrew, we saw some interesting mods to popular games, some of which also found their way into the online scene (like Project M and CTGP). Here’s a look at some of the more popular and interesting titles that used the service and what we’ll miss most about them:

Helix Games is working on “Don’t Touch Anything Red” for the Wii U eShop. Here’s what we know thus far:
– Inspired by “The Impossible Game”, in which you play as a block that must jump over obstacles
– In this game, players can now control gravity and flip between the top and bottom of the screen
– Off-TV play
– 5-player multiplayer
– Versus and co-op modes
– 2 single-player modes
– $1.99
– 90% done
– Working on polish/minor details
– In 5-player multiplayer, one player may use the GamePad to place blocks to stop the other 4
