Nintendo president on Switch performance, new hardware plans not impacted by latest business conditions

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has weighed in on the current Switch performance while briefly giving a few vague comments on new hardware. This comes from the Q&A portion of the company’s financial briefing.
Furukawa described Switch sales as “stable” and “the holiday season results were steady.” He again pointed out that reaching new consumers is a challenge given the age of the hardware, but it’s worth noting that the holiday season saw “a particular rise in first-time buyers of our hardware, and we see this as a positive sign for the Nintendo Switch business going forward.”

September 15: In the deluge of new game announcements that happened in the most recent Nintendo Direct presentation, Neos Corporation took the opportunity to reveal a new title of theirs, Shin-chan: Shiro of Coal Town. While the game was initially only confirmed to launch this winter in Japan, the company has clarified that it will also be receiving a worldwide release at a later date.
Shin-chan: Shiro of Coal Town is a successor to the previous game in the series, Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation – The Endless Seven-Day Journey. With Millenium Kitchen once again developing the game, players can expect a familiar, relaxing life-simulation-style game set in a new mysterious town.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom icons added to Nintendo Switch Online

May 11: Just in time for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom comes a new set of user icons on Nintendo Switch Online.
As usual, icons are available for characters, backgrounds, and frames. Most cost 10 Platinum Points on My Nintendo. However, the backgrounds and frames are 5 Platinum Points. If you redeem any icon any your Nintendo Switch Online subscription expires, the icons will still be yours to keep.
Gleylancer and Gynoug Switch physical release announced

Limited Run Games has announced a new Switch physical release combo pack featuring Gleylancer and Gynoug.
Both of these titles were previously sold digitally via the eShop. Now though, they’ll be offered physically on a single cartridge.

Thanks to GamesIndustry, we have new insight into the UK gaming market for January 2024.
Overall there weren’t too many surprises when it came to software. Looking at Nintendo exclusives, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the highest at #9 (not counting digital). Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown landed at #15 in its first month.
Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator release date set for March, new trailer

January 18: Today, Nacon and Stillalive Studios shared the final release date for Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator. The initial launch is happening on February 22, though the Switch version is scheduled for March 14.
Garden Life: A Cozy Simulator is a relaxing gardening game that “offers players a relaxing gardening experience, where the only limit will be their own creativity”. Nacon says the “challenge is to transform an abandoned plot into a flourishing community garden, while interacting with the game’s quirky characters, your fellow villagers.”

Point-and-click adventure game Whirlight – No Time to Trip coming to Switch

Developer Imaginary Labs have announced that they will be bringing Whirlight – No Time to Trip to Switch next year. The game is a point-and-click adventure inspired by the likes of Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island, with its own distinctive art style of 2D-rendered visuals. The game begins in the sixties but will take players across space and time and multiple eras.

Lost Hellden announced for Switch

Developer Artisan Studios have revealed a new JRPG, Lost Hellden, which will be arriving on Switch next year. The game will be presented in a hand-painted style, and will feature music and audio direction by Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Tactics Ogre, etc.) and illustrations by Takeshi Oga (Gravity Rush, Siren, etc.).
