SteamWorld Headhunter put on hold

As part of its latest financial results, Thunderful CEO Martin Walfisz commented on the sales of SteamWorld Build. While we don’t have specific data, SteamWorld Build “fell slightly short of expectations”.

Switch was actually referenced specifically here. Walfisz said “the genre of this game has not really appealed to our most dedicated target audience and it has not been well-suited to the Switch console, which has traditionally been a key platform for SteamWorld games.”

Splatoon 3 Side Order My Nintendo reward

In celebration of the new Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC, a physical reward has just been added to My Nintendo. Currently it’s only available in North America.

Members can spend their points on a new sticker sheet. The tech stickers feature Agent 8, Pearl Drone, and a little Octoling. It measures 8.5″ x 11″. They can be placed on plastic and glass surfaces like a water bottle, laptop, window, a car, and more.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze martian theme

If things had gone in a different direction, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze could have featured a martian theme.

The game ultimately starts out with the Snowmads freezing DK Island, and players go on a journey to take down Lord Fredrik. However, Retro Studios artists that worked on the title says that the martian theme was considered, albeit briefly.

Mortal Kombat 1 Peacemaker release date

Today, Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios confirmed the release date for Peacemaker, the next DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1.

Those with early access via the Premium Edition or Kombat Pack can begin using the character on February 28. For everyone else, Peacemaker goes live on March 6. Note that Janet Cage joins the Kameo roster later in March.

Epic Mickey Rebrushed new skills

Further details about Epic Mickey: Rebrushed have emerged, including that the game will offer improved controls and new movement skills.

New skills were technically first confirmed by Nintendo yesterday, but now we have a few more details. The dash, ground pound, and sprinting are all now in. We’ve also learned that Purple Lamp, the studio behind the recent SpongeBob games, is handling the remake.

Guitar Life: Lesson 1

Hori, typically known for its accessories, has now announced a new piece of software for Switch titled Guitar Life: Lesson 1. A release is planned for this spring in Japan.

Guitar Life: Lesson 1 is a peripheral-powered educational guitar game. The following songs will be included:

Felix the Cat Switch

January 11: Felix the Cat has been officially announced to be making a comeback on Switch. Limited Run Games is partnering with Konami on the release.

This release was previously leaked via a classification listing. Two retro games will be included in the collection.

Ninja Five-O

Just over twenty years after its initial debut, the Game Boy Advance title Ninja Five-O is returning with a new Switch release. Limited Run Games is involved and will be releasing it thanks to its Carbon Engine.

Hudson Soft originally developed Ninja Five-O for its 2003 launch. It stars Joe Osugi, a ninja who goes on a mission to put an end to a terrorist group tainted by the Mad Masks.

Pentiment physical

Pentiment was announced for Switch today, and it didn’t take long for a physical release to be confirmed. Limited Run Games will be handling distribution.

Only a standard version will be offered. However, this is still very notable as it’s the first time the game is receiving a physical release.
