Siliconera recently caught up with a pair of developers behind Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. The site spoke with Nintendo co-producer Toru Osawa as well as Makoto Shibata. A few interesting topics came up during the discussion. The two creators commented on the idea behind using the GamePad as the Camera Obscura and cut ideas, where Ayane’s inclusion came from, and the decision to make the first two chapters free in the west.

You can find these excerpts from the interview below. Read the full discussion over on Siliconera.

An art book based on Splatoon was recently made available in Japan. Through one of the images, we’re able to see what looks like urinal warp zones. It seems that, at one point, the developers thought about letting players transform into squids and use urinals/sinks to warp to different areas on the map.

There haven’t been too many sales surrounding Super Mario 3D World as of late, but Amazon has a fairly good discount. It’s down from $60 to $43 at the moment. By purchasing 3D World, you’ll save $17 (or 28 percent).

Five new expansion packs have launched for LEGO Dimensions. These are based on Doctor Who, LEGO Ninjago, The Simpsons and The LEGO Movie.

The different packs offer an extra level, buildable characters, vehicles, and gadgets with special in-game abilities. All expansion pack characters can also unlock the corresponding Adventure World of the same brand.

That’s not all for LEGO Dimensions, as a new “Hire-a-Hero” feature update has gone live. This lets players sample a selection of Wave 1 expansion pack characters using studs collected in the game. To take advantage of the functionality, they can select the hologram minifigure near certain hint stones to unlock characters for a limited time to try out their special abilities to solve problems and complete puzzles. More characters from subsequent waves of expansion packs will be added down the line.

Check out some Doctor Who gameplay below. You can also find an overview of the new packs after the break.
