Splatoon producer on the game’s prototype, plaza, communication; “allows for adaptive playstyles”

USgamer has a new interview up with Splatoon producer Hisashi Nogami. Nogami commented on various topics, ranging from the game’s origins to the type of player Splatoon is aimed at. Additionally, he was asked about how he thinks players will communicate given that voice chat is not included.

These are the new Mario Kart 8 Miiverse stamps

Today’s Mario Kart 8 update was accompanied by the addition of new Miiverse stamps. Players now have an extra 10 stamps at their disposal while writing comments in the game’s community.
As for what’s new specifically, Nintendo has added the following:
– Link
– Isabelle
– Animal Crossing tree
– F-Zero logo
– Bowser Clown jack-in-the-box
– Hylian symbol
– Animal Crossing house
– Blue Falcon
– Kung-Fu Lakitu
– Neo Bowser City logo
All of these stamps are available as soon as you apply today’s update.

Nintendo hosting Xenoblade Chronicles X video showcase tomorrow, Nintendo Treehouse session as well

Nintendo has announced that a new “video showcase” will be held tomorrow for Xenoblade Chronicles X. Following that, there will be a Nintendo Treehouse: Live presentation featuring the game.
Nintendo’s presentation will kick off at 2 PM ET / 11 AM PT. You’ll be able to watch it here, though we’ll have a stream on the site as well. Keep in mind that the videos will be available in English only.

Xenoblade Chronicles X details – Kizunagram, online

Xenoblade Chronicles X’s Japanese launch is just one week away, but Monolith Soft hasn’t stopped updating the game’s official website. The most recent content added to the page covers the Kizunagram and online functionality. For a roundup of the new information, check out the summary below (thanks Gessenkou).
Kizunagram
– Kizunagram (or affinity chart) revolves around the relationships between characters
– View relationship types and bond strength between the player and other characters, traits of those characters, and their relationships with other characters in the chart
– Players can view the links between characters they’ve met
– Raise bonds with allies beyond a certain point to grow them even stronger
– This allows you to take on special Kizuna Quests
– It also causes special events called “Kizuna Talks” (heart-to-hearts)
– Characters respond differently to different choices you make
– This includes accepting and completing special Kizuna Quests, finishing Story Quests and Normal Quests, completing an ally’s Soul Voice, and viewing Kizuna Talks
– Can view the bonds formed with other players met through the online mode
Online Features
– Xenoblade X’s online is characterized by being “loosely connected” to other players
– If you play the game while your Wii U is connected to the internet, you’ll meet other players’ avatars in the field or BLADE Area
– Scout these avatars and add them to your party
– The other players do not control their avatars during that time
– Other players can add your avatar to their party, where the avatar will gain exp
– Can join Squads while connected to the Internet
– Squads can have up to 32 members
– Members of the same squad become loosely connected, view Reports sent by each other, and can cooperate in battle
– Life Point Search Squads: Intended for players who prefer to take their time playing solo
– Conquest Squads: Intended for players who want to proactively engage in multiplayer
– Friend’s Squads: Join the same squads as your friends
– Can change your squad while playing
– You can add members of your Squad to your “Favorites List”
– Send them Friend requests as well
– Squad members can give away or receive equipment obtained after battle
– Setting up Treasure Deal(giving away) – Joining Treasure Deal(receiving)

Mario Kart 8 DLC and update 4.0 now live

The long awaited 2nd batch of Mario Kart 8 DLC along with its new update which includes the new 200cc mode is finally here! The update itself is approximately 250MB, while the DLC is 970MB. Yes, close to 1GB.
Here’s what you’ll find in the new update:
NOTE: Update is required to download the second DLC pack
– 9 new Mii suits added: Wario, Pac-Man, Olimar, Bowser, Sonic, Toad, Villager, Rosalina and Mega Man
– 200cc class added
– Added sparks effect when braking in 200cc class
– Added braking on the Wii Remote by pressing the B, 1 and 2 buttons at the same time
– Added ability to add CPU players for online custom rules (only human players will be counted for scoring)
– Press Minus to display the map on the TV screen with the Pro Controller, Classic Controller, Wii Remote + Nunchuk
– On the Animal Crossing circuit, seasons are not random when you play Time Attack (you only have Summer)
– 10 new stamps for Miiverse
– Various bug fixes
Once you boot up the game, you’ll be prompted to download the new update. Simply wait, and once it’s done you can go have fun!
