Nintendo announces Virtual Game Card for Switch and Switch 2

Nintendo shared some surprising news today, announcing the Virtual Game Card. This can be used for digital games on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
After purchasing a game digitally, it’ll load on to your system. Virtual Game Cards will have a dedicated screen for this. You can load and eject these cards, allowing you to use them on another system. Local communication is required, but only the first time. Cards can be lent out to Nintendo Account Family Group members. Games can be lent out for two weeks, and then will be automatically returned to you.

The Rhythm Heaven series is making a comeback with Nintendo just unveiling Rhythm Heaven Groove. The title is slated for 2026.
Nintendo hasn’t shared too much thus far – likely given how fact away it is – but there’ll be plenty of mini-games to get involved with. Also, renowned Japanese musician Tsunku♂ is confirmed to be involved.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A introduces Z-A Royale

Pokemon Legends: Z-A today has revealed a new mechanic known as Z-A Royale. This happens at night, and it’s a tournament.
Trainers will appear in battle zones, and if you’re spotted, they’ll challenge you to battle. After starting at Rank Z, you’ll move up to Rank A.

Today, Bandai Namco unveiled Tamagotchi Plaza for Nintendo Switch. The game is due out on August 27, 2025.
Based on the 90’s pocket companions, Tamagotchi Plaza is a shop simulator games. The action is set in Tamahiko Town where players will manage a dozen different shops and engage with over 100 Tamagotchi.

Gradius Origins announced for Nintendo Switch

Today, it was announced that Gradius Origins is heading to Nintendo Switch. The package launches on August 7, 2025.
Gradius Origins packs in 17 versions of six arcade classics. You’ll be getting Gradius, Salamander, Life Force, Gradius 2, Gradius 3, and Salamander 2 here. On top of that, Gradius 3 AM Show version will be thrown in. That’s not all though, as the brand new Salamander 3 will be available.
New gameplay features are planned for the collection. These include rewind, save anywhere, reduced hit detection, invincible mode, and more.

New footage of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond debuted today. Nintendo provided a look at Planet Viewros plus psychic abilities that can be used to operate mechanisms, open doors, and control the trajectory of Samus’ beams. A new suit was also teased at the end.

Today, Marvelous announced Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar for Nintendo Switch. This one is planned for August 27, 2025.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar takes inspiration from the original Nintendo DS handheld release. For this game, Marvelous says it “expands on the content and feature set of the original, while modernizing the visuals and design, leaning into the title’s focus on the theme of ‘renewal’ as players set out to revitalize Zephyr Town’s bazaar and return it to its world-famous glory.”

Patapon 1 + 2 Replay is on the way to Nintendo Switch, it’s been revealed. The collection of action rhythm games are due out on July 11, 2025.

Bandai Namco just shared the release date for Shadow Labyrinth. The game launches on July 18, 2025.
Shadow Labyrinth was originally revealed at The Game Awards 2024 in December. Today’s update gives a look at never-before-seen gameplay including the first glimpse of a powerful mode players unlock as they progress through the game, where they take on the form of a massive robotic mech called Gaia. This inflicts heavy damage to enemies and levels the playing field for battles with some of the game’s most epically huge bosses. The game also features the quick and agile Swordsman No.8 melee combat and Mini Puck mode that lets players ride rails and explore small areas in classic Pac-Man style.
