January 25: It’s taken longer than expected, but Pokemon Legends: Z-A user icons have now arrived on Nintendo Switch Online. They’re available for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch users now.
Typically icons are added to the service around a game’s release. However, we didn’t see anything back in October and things were quiet when the Mega Dimension DLC released.
Nintendo and Camelot have just released the opening movie for Mario Tennis Fever. This will display right when players boot up the game.

January 25: With the film coming out in just a couple of months, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has now received its second trailer. The video just debuted as part of today’s Direct for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Yoshi is the star of today’s trailer. While the character was missing in the previous video, leaks pointed to the character’s inclusion. Elsewhere we see that Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are appearing in some form, there’ll be the Frog power-up, and more.
A number of new deals are up and running on the North American Nintendo Switch eShop. These include the lowest prices ever for Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Potion Permit, Slime Rancher, and more.

Kernel Hearts is appearing on Nintendo Switch, publisher Whitethorn Games and developer Ephemera announced today. They did not share a launch window.
Kernel Hearts is an action RPG and roguelike hybrid with cooperative play. Players will look to ascend the Tower of Babel as they attempt to overthrow God.

Today, publisher Whitethorn Games and developer Panpipe Studio announced Colorbound for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. The game launches later in 2026.
Colorbound is a heartfelt puzzle platformer in which players use the power of color to shape the environment. In the game, players will go on an adventure to reunite Anku with his late grandfather’s band.

After it originally released on PlayStation, Dragon Quest 7 came to Nintendo 3DS about a decade ago with a remake. Square Enix has now decided to revisit it once more with a second remake, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, which features its own visual style and makes various gameplay adjustments.
Alongside the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, we caught up with producer Takeshi Ichikawa to learn a bit more about the project. Aside from talking about the game itself, Ichikawa spoke about why it’s the right time to bring back the RPG again.

Nintendo recently shared new data revealing the best-selling games on the Japanese Switch 2 and Switch eShops for January 2026.
The top title on Nintendo Switch 2 was actually one that hadn’t been released – which was Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. Simply through pre-loads alone, it managed to come out on top. But Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was one game that was new, and that cracked the top five. Dynasty Warriors: Origins is in the top ten as well.
