Square Enix released Final Fantasy 1 alongside Final Fantasy Explorers as a first-print bonus, complete with 3D support. Now the game is being released on the Japanese 3DS eShop next week.
Final Fantasy 1 is due out on January 21 for 1,080 yen. View some screenshots above.
Three new games will be available on the Japanese Wii U Virtual Console next week. They are as follows:
Break In (PC Engine, 617 yen)
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (GBA, 702 yen)
Dragon Buster (Famicom, 514 yen)
The games above are hitting the Japanese eShop on January 21.
Wii U’s YouTube application was recently updated. There’s not a whole lot that’s new, but a few general improvements have been made.
Users are shown recommendations based on viewing habits and subscriptions upon launching the YouTube app. The app is a bit cleaner and apparently loads faster as well. It’s also possible to press left on the d-pad to open up the same menus and content that you see on the browser version.
One thing that remains the same is keeping all content on the GamePad, and the television stays blank until you start a video. There’s no Pro Controller support sadly!
During Christmas week, 1,517,000 games were sold in Japan. Media Create says that number is 79.45 percent compared to sales during Christmas week in 2013. Sales are also down compared to 2012 (1,701,000 units) and 2011 (1,621,000 units).
Gaming sales during the year-end season weren’t entirely underwhelming. All three versions of Youkai Watch 2 were top performers having sold a combined total of 5.079 million units. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has sold 2.34 million copies and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS has sold 2 million.
Rumors have been flying about over the past day or so regarding the New 3DS launch date. Last night, Gamnesia reported that the system would be launching on February 13 in North America. We chose to hold off on posting any speculation until some sort of concrete piece of proof surfaced, and it now looks like we have just that.
A promotional ad for the New 3DS surfaced online today. If true, the date mentioned lines up with rumors about a February 13 arrival for the system.
Red and black New 3DS XL colors are prominently featured in the ad. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate are included as well. Might one (or both) of these titles be coming out on February 13 as well? All should be clear after tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct airs, presumably!
