Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection Adventurer's Guide

Atlus is back with another Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection trailer which is going by the title “Adventurer’s Guide”. Keep in mind that it is only available in Japanese at this time.

Here’s what to expect from the upcoming Switch release:

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection trailer

Atlus is giving Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection fans a new look at the package today with a gameplay trailer. The video showcases party customization, mapmaking, battles, exploration and more, all while offering new looks at the collection’s improved graphics.

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection contains the first three titles of the series, Etrian Odyssey HD, Etrian Odyssey II HD, and Etrian Odyssey III HD. Also included are numerous quality of life improvements like Suspend Saves, adjustable difficulty levels, and an increased number of translated languages plus new DLC character portrait sets.

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection remaster

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection brings back the series’ first three games from DS. In an interview with IGN, Atlus has spoken about why it decided to remaster these titles specifically.

Atlus technically could have considered offering the Untold games. These were remakes of the first two entries that were released on 3DS.

The good news is that what we’re getting in Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection aren’t straightforward ports. According to Atlus, “we updated a lot of the systems to be more in line with the series’ most recent releases like Etrian Odyssey Nexus.”

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection price

When Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection was announced for Switch last month, some were surprised by the price point. Atlus – and parent company SEGA – is charging $80 for the package. That’s quite a steep amount given that other similar packages haven’t really hit that mark.

SEGA has now commented on the decision in an interview with IGN. The company pointed to the amount of content included, believing that “players will be very excited for in the first three games of the remastered series”.

SEGA’s full statement on the price point for Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is as follows:

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection physical

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection will have a physical release in Asia that supports English, it’s been confirmed.

Atlus is planning a June launch for the package. However, it will be digital-only in North America and Europe. That isn’t the case in Asia (and Japan). Any Switch owner can import a copy regardless of their region. And once again, English will be supported on every cartridge.

February 2023 SEGA Atlus Switch eShop sale

Etrian Odyssey next game

The Etrian Odyssey development team shared a special message with fans this week following the announcement of Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection.

That same message also provided a brief status update on the series’ next game. In the note, Atlus states that the hardware has changed and two screens can no longer be used. Ultimately, “it will take more time” to create a brand new entry in the series.

Persona 4 Golden review Switch

System: Switch
Release Date: January 19, 2023
Developer: Atlus
Publisher: Atlus

Releasing originally on the PlayStation 2 in 2008, Persona 4’s small town of Inaba is not unlike my own home town. A small, sleepy community with one grocery store, one gas station, and if you drive by it and blink, you might miss the town altogether. Small communities are generally safe, right? Moving there, one might feel secure leaving their doors unlocked, with no real worries about what could happen while you run to the convenience store. Inaba, though, has a murderer on the loose – one that seems to kill through very non-traditional means. First, a local TV personality, and next a teenage student… Is anyone safe anymore in Inaba? How does one catch a killer that leaves no trace of their crime? Why do the victims show up beforehand on the eerie Midnight Channel when it rains? Why are students being targeted in the first place? Persona 4 Golden’s murder mystery has many layers, and by taking control of our Protagonist and his friends can we really solve this situation and save the lives of those targeted?
