Capcom focusing on regular release of titles for major IP, also using dormant IP and remakes

Today, Capcom posted an overview of its strategies and plans for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. As part of that, the company provides insight into growth strategies, and its focus going forward.
Capcom first highlights that, with new titles, it will “regularly release titles for major IP while also utilizing dormant IP and remakes”. Also a part of the company’s plan is to “extend sales life of catalog titles” and “strengthen digital downloads for both new and past titles”.

Thanks to fan feedback, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection will have Training and Versus modes. Both will be offered through a day one update on May 29.

Capcom: Ultra Street Fighter II and Monster Hunter XX on Switch “enjoyed hit status”

Capcom reported its financial results today for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018. As the company has said in previous reports, its original Switch games sold well. Monster Hunter XX and Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers both “enjoyed hit status”.
In November, Capcom confirmed that Ultra Street Fighter II had shipped 500,000 copies worldwide. Monster Hunter XX managed to exceed shipments of 350,000 units.

Mega Man 2, Mega Man X to be reprinted on cartridge

Capcom and iam8bit are teaming up for new physical versions of Mega Man classics. Mega Man 2, along with Mega Man X, will be reprinted on cartridge later this year.
Both are priced at $100 each and are limited to 8,500 units. They’ll come with deluxe packaging and “premium” instruction booklets, while the cartridge “houses the original game code on a brand new PCB board and are fully playable on NTSC consoles.”
Fans can pick up the Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X 30th Anniversary Classic Cartridge in two colors: a standard opaque light blue and a smaller batch (1,000 of each) of translucent, glow-in-the-dark blue. Cartridges will be “randomly inserted into sealed, unmarked boxes”.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 isn’t just a simple re-release. Capcom is including a new X Challenge mode, a museum with rare production art, catalogs of classic merchandise, a playlist of nostalgic commercials, and more, and the animated prequel film starring the origins of Mega Man X villain, Sigma.
Capcom also confirms that some new music is being created for the collection. You can get a preview of one of the tracks below.

A listing for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection has gone up on the eShop. In both North America and Europe, it can now be pre-loaded.
If you pre-load Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, you can make a purchase in advance and download the required data. Then on launch day, you’ll only need to connect online once to begin playing.
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection takes up 4.9GB.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 contains Mega Man X up through Mega Man X8. The first collection will be on a cartridge while the second is a digital code.
Original Okami lead designers celebrate the game’s 12th anniversary with special art

Did you know that Okami’s 12th anniversary is today? Capcom hasn’t forgotten, and is celebrating with some special art.
Mari Shimazaki and Kenichiro Yoshimura, the lead designers on Okami, worked together to create the image above.
After previously coming to Wii, Okami will be returning to a Nintendo system once again this summer. Capcom intends to release Okami HD via the eShop.
