3DS is now three years old in Japan

Three years ago today, Nintendo launched the 3DS in Japan. The system shipped on February 26, 2011 – with the US and Europe getting it about a month later.
Celebrate with a look at the icons for almost every 3DS game released in Japan (above) and practically all special systems made available (below).
Wii U finally surpasses lifetime Xbox 360 sales in Japan

The Wii U has finally managed to outsell the Xbox 360 in Japan, based on the latest Media Create data.
Since launch, Nintendo’s console has sold 1,643,095 units in the territory. Meanwhile, lifetime Xbox 360 sales stand at 1,641,528 units.
Wii U will next try to catch the PS Vita, which has sold 2.5 million units to-date. The PS3 is much further off at 9.8 million units.
