Let’s Talk #41: March 2016 Nintendo Direct thoughts

This week’s Nintendo Direct was the first time in awhile that we saw a new presentation that wasn’t about a specific game. A Pokemon broadcast was held just last week, and there was the Smash Bros. video back in December. However, the last actual Direct covering multiple games was held back in November.

Nintendo shared news about both of its current platforms, Wii U and 3DS. In terms of announcements, Paper Mario: Color Splash and Kirby: Planet Robobot were the big ones here. SNES support was also revealed for the New 3DS Virtual Console. That’s in addition to localization of Monster Hunter Generations and Rhythm Heaven Megamix, release dates for games such as Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Mario & Sonic Wii U, updates for Super Mario Maker and Splatoon, and more.

Nintendo Directs are always big events, so today’s Let’s Talk is dedicated to this week’s presentation. Were you happy with what was shown? Or maybe you were looking for something more/else? Regardless of how you felt, tell us in the comments below!

Highlights from last week’s topic: What do you want to see from Pokemon Sun/Moon?

Today’s Nintendo Direct will begin at 5 PM ET / 2 PM PT / 10 PM in the UK / 11 PM in Europe (2 hours from now). Streams for all three broadcasts (North America, Europe, Japan) are embedded below. The North American presentation is 41 minutes long, and the Japanese presentation is 39 minutes long.

I’m also going to be handing this post off to someone else – probably Dennis – to handle a live blog for us. That will begin below once the presentation begins, and will mainly be based on the North American stream.

With that, keep those expectations in check and enjoy the show!

And that’s it for the Nintendo Direct this month! Thanks to everyone for watching and reading along! Tons of awesome new games and information announced. Until next time! 🙂 – Dennis

Dutch website N1ntendo, an outlet with a fairly decent reputation, claims to have information about tomorrow’s European Nintendo Direct. There is some reason to be skeptical, and there is no guarantee that all of the items posted will be presented during tomorrow’s broadcast. That being said, now that we’re aware of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Generations trademark which was included in N1ntendo’s leak, there is a reason to share the rumored lineup (which may or may not be incomplete).

Here’s a look at what N1ntendo posted:

We have a couple of updates from Nintendo NY straight from the store’s Twitter account.

First, Nintendo NY will be hosting an event for tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct. Fans can stop by and watch the presentation as it happens on a 15-foot screen.

Nintendo NY will also be selling Zelda: Twilight Princess HD starting this Friday. Those who purchase the game will receive a poster in addition to the Sound Selection CD.

A new Nintendo Direct has just been announced for tomorrow. In the presentation, Wii U and 3DS games launching through summer will be covered.

Unsurprisingly, the North American website confirms that there will be no news about NX or mobile. The European presentation is confirmed to be hosted by Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata and Ed Valiente of Nintendo of Europe’s European Publisher Business department.

Tomorrow’s presentation will air at the following times:

– 2 PM PT
– 5 PM ET
– 10 PM in the UK
– 11 PM in Europe

The full presentation for today’s Pokemon Direct has now gone live. If you missed it, you can watch it in full below.

Today’s Pokemon Direct will begin one hour from now. We’ve embedded the live stream below, similar to past presentations.

Since the broadcast will only last five (update: six) minutes, we’ve decided that a live blog wouldn’t make much sense. However, any major news will be added to the site immediately.

We have a couple of new Nintendo Direct-related updates to share. First, following today’s presentation, a new Nintendo Minute will air. And for those close to New York City, a live stream of the broadcast can be watched at Nintendo World.
