Pokemon GO

Good news for Pokemon GO players. Niantic has pledged to improve the game’s EX Raid Battles feature, with the company tweeting out the following today:

EX Raid Battles began in a beta state last month. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been received terribly well.

As Polygon notes, EX Raid Battles requires players to be regular participants in the co-op gym feature, they tend to be tied to specific locations, and some legendary Pokemon such as Mewtwo could only be obtained this way. The necessary Premium Raid pass invitations were sent out on a random basis, and some players who only won a single standard Raid battle won the Premium Raid pass whereas those who regularly battled high-level Pokemon at a variety of gyms would leave empty handed.

Pokemon GO’s new Halloween event kicked off earlier today, and some of the first Pokemon from Gen III were introduced. Take a look at some footage below.

As you’ll see in the video, the music here is from Lavender Town – but with a new twist.

Pokemon GO’s latest update went live this week. It was primarily intended to get the game ready for Gen III Pokemon, but it also included a new anti-cheating measure aimed at those using “spoofing” apps.

Unfortunately for Niantic, things did not go as planned. Players quickly managed to bypass the anti-cheating measure. When we say quickly, we mean quickly. It took under an hour for the method to be defeated, prompting Niantic to disable it entirely.

How will Niantic respond from here? The company will likely try its best to continue going after those it deems are cheaters. At least thus far, Niantic is having a very difficult time on that front.

Following several leaks, Niantic has officially confirmed what’s planned for Pokemon GO to celebrate Halloween.

Sableye, Banette, and a few other Ghost-type Pokemon originally discovered in the Hoenn region will be appearing for the first time ever in Pokemon GO. Additionally, the rest of the Pokemon that were from Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire will appear as early as December.

With the third generation of Pokémon seemingly close to debuting, dataminers Members of The Silph Road have shared code that includes the gender ratios of all third-generation Pokémon, Polygon reports.

Essentially, the gender ratio is mostly identical to the traditional games’ numbers; however, two glaring oversights have been found concerning legendary dragon Pokémon Latios and Latias. Specifically, exclusively male Latios and female counterpart Latias have had their genders flipped in Pokémon Go’s code.

Somehow, Niantic swapped this defining detail within Pokémon Go’s code. Based on what The Silph Road community dug up, Pokémon Go’s Latios is 100 percent female, while Latias is 100 percent male. That probably won’t have any bearing on gameplay — these two Pokémon can’t breed, in-game or in general — but for fans who know their Pokémon biology inside and out, it’s kind of a shocking switch.

We assume this will be fixed before the update goes live.

Everything we’ve heard about Pokemon GO over the past few days has pointed to the game receiving some of the first Gen III Pokemon during Halloween. The Apple Watch App Store further hints at this. An ad on the store shows Pokemon including Sableye and Duskull.

Also, it looks like a new hat could be introduced for the Halloween event. We’re able to see what looks like Pikachu wearing a witch’s hat.

It’s that time once again. Pokemon GO is getting another update, and Niantic is in the process of rolling out the patch. It’ll be version 0.79.2 for Android and 1.49.2 for iOS devices.

Niantic says that the update is to implement bug fixes and performance updates. No new functionality at this time.

Pokemon GO has been datamined once again. Based on what players have found, Gen III Pokemon could be added during Halloween later this month.

One of the big hints we have is Pokemon GO’s upcoming loading screen, which features Duskull and Dusclops, Shuppet and Banette and Sableye. It goes without saying that these creatures are associated with Gen III. Audio clips from this generation have also been spotted in the game’s files.

Tiawanese magazine Business Weekly published a new interview with Niantic CEO John Hanke. During the discussion, Hanke spoke about plans for the future.

On the topic of what Pokemon GO’s next “ace in the hole” will be, Hanke teased:

Another new update is making its way out for Pokemon GO. On iOS, players will have access to version 1.47.1. Android users will be able to download 0.77.1.

The latest update mainly involves bug fixes. Also, costumed Pokemon can no longer be mass-transferred, and a confirmation dialogue will show up when attempting to transfer such Pokemon.
