Both versions of Yo-kai Watch 3 sold a total of 632,000 copies in its first week (July 16 and July 17). Media Create now reports that they sold through 63.07 percent of the initial shipment.

Unsurprisingly, Yo-kai Watch 3 obtained the highest first week sales of all games released so far since the start of the year. However, the series saw a big decline in comparison to the last entry. Yo-kai Watch 2, which debuted in July 2014, experienced first week sales of 1,317,000 copies with a 92.16 percent sell-through rate. It also did not manage to match the spin-off title Yo-kai Watch Busters. That game arrived in July 25 with 694,000 copies sold in its first week and a 73.60 percent sell-through rate.

On the hardware front, New 3DS sales sold 136.68 percent when compared to last week. Since Yo-kai Watch 3 connects with NFC and related toys, it is thought that this has caused an urge in the demand to trade off from the old 3DS.

NPD Group has released a listing of the top ten best-selling games in the U.S. for the month of June 2016. The results can be found below.

1. Overwatch
2. Grand Theft Auto V
3. Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
4. Doom 2016*
5. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst
6. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End*
7. NBA 2K16
8. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
9. Destiny: The Taken King
10. Minecraft*

Note: for the first time, NPD is starting to include digital sales in its reports. Games marked with the asterisk do not include digital sales. Also keep in mind that NPD’s format has changed – this is a revenue ranking rather than unit rankings.
